I took a step closer, my hand reaching out, this time with a deliberate slowness. "Maybe," I whispered, my voice rough with a sudden yearning, "I just wanted to appreciate the view."
Her smile widened, and she took a step toward me, closing the small gap between us. The scent of lavender and her own warm skin enveloped me. "And what a view it is," she purred, her eyes dancing, "when you're this close."
The towel around my waist felt suddenly inadequate, and the one around hers, a tantalizing barrier. The air crackled between us, a silent promise of what was about to unfold, all born from a single, audacious squeeze.
"Ready?" Holly asked, her voice a little too bright, a little too quick. She shifted in the driver's seat, the engine purring to life, a low rumble that somehow echoed the secret hum tucked away between her legs.
I buckled my seatbelt, casting a quick glance at her. She looked stunning, as always – a simple sundress that skimmed her curves, hair tied back in a messy bun, a natural glow. But there was something else today, a barely perceptible fidget, a subtle clenching of her thighs as she reversed out of the driveway. I’d noticed her lingering a little too long in the bathroom before we left, a faint, almost imperceptible tremor in her hand as she buttoned her dress. My gut told me something was up. My instincts told me something was definitely up.
We were heading to Emilia’s BBQ, a perfectly innocent summer afternoon gathering. The irony was almost palpable. As we merged onto the main road, a faint, rhythmic vibration tickled the edge of my hearing. I dismissed it at first, a loose panel, the rumble of the road. But then Holly let out a tiny, almost imperceptible gasp, her knuckles whitening slightly on the steering wheel.
"Everything alright?" I asked, feigning casualness, my gaze fixed on the road ahead but my awareness hyper-focused on her.
"Perfect," she said, a strained smile playing on her lips. "Just traffic." She adjusted the air conditioning, a movement that seemed to coincide with a subtle, almost imperceptible increase in the vibration. It was there, a low thrum, like a trapped bumblebee, humming a silent, insistent tune against her most intimate parts.
A slow smile spread across my face. I finally put the pieces together. The lingering in the bathroom, the quick, bright replies, the subtle shifts in her seat. My eyes met hers for a fleeting second in the rearview mirror. Hers were wide, a mixture of mischief and something else – a deep, hungry anticipation. She knew I knew. The silent hum in the car was no longer just a hum; it was a siren, calling to something primal within both of us. The journey to Emilia's BBQ had just gotten a whole lot more interesting, and the innocent afternoon ahead felt charged with a delicious, illicit promise. The vibrator was just getting started.
“What’s so funny?” I asked Holly, trying to sound annoyed, but the grin on my face betrayed me. She was doubled over on the patio, clutching her stomach, tears streaming from her eyes. The sun, thankfully, was still high enough to cast long shadows that mercifully obscured most things.
Her laughter finally died down to a series of hiccuping gasps. “Oh, God, you should have seen your face.”
“My face?” I prompted, still completely bewildered. We’d been out here for a good twenty minutes, basking in the unexpected warmth of the late afternoon, completely uninhibited. Our little backyard was secluded, bordered by towering hedges and an old oak tree, offering a sanctuary of privacy. We’d done this countless times.
“Yes, your face!” she managed, taking a deep, shaky breath. “One minute we’re just enjoying the sunshine, you know? Like we always do. And then, I don’t know what happened, but you just froze. Absolutely frozen. Like you suddenly realized you were naked. Outside. As if you hadn’t been for the past twenty minutes!”
