He chuckled, a low rumble that vibrated through her. "That's an understatement, isn't it?" His eyes, the color of warm honey, crinkled at the corners, full of a playful mischief that always promised more. His gaze drifted from her eyes to the curve of her smile, then lingered on her lips, still slightly swollen from their kiss.
"Maybe," she conceded, a soft laugh escaping her as she pulled back just enough to look into his eyes. Her own gaze, bright with affection and a growing heat, dropped to the enticing V of his t-shirt, where the damp fabric clung to the firm expanse of his chest. "Rough day at sea, Captain?" she teased, her voice a little husky.
Pete’s smile widened, a knowing glint in his eyes. He tightened his hold, his thumbs tracing lazy circles on the small of her back. "Exhausting," he confirmed, his voice dropping to a low, suggestive tone that sent a shiver tracing down her spine. "But I think I know just the thing to help me unwind." He leaned in, his lips brushing against her ear, sending a wave of delicious anticipation through her. "And I have a feeling you might be involved."
Jennie’s smile became a slow, languid curve. Her fingers, still in his hair, tugged gently, pulling him closer. "Is that so?" she whispered, her voice a seductive purr. The air between them crackled with unspoken promises, with the thrilling hum of desire that had been building all day. The setting sun cast long, intimate shadows across the terrace, inviting them to retreat into the privacy of their villa, where their reunion could truly begin.
The kiss, when it came, was a heady rush, a celebration of reconnection after a week apart.
“I am so glad to see you,” Jennie murmured against his lips, her tongue tracing the curve of his mouth, a mischievous invitation. She felt his smile against her own.
“Gold,” Pete chuckled, his voice a low rumble in his chest. “It fits you.” His fingers kneaded the soft curve of her buttock, a comforting, possessive touch. “Golden hair, golden personality.”
Jennie giggled, a sound like wind chimes, and leaned into another kiss, deeper this time. She tasted the faintest hint of coffee and something uniquely Pete. His hands, strong and sure, moved from her butt to cup her face, his thumbs gently stroking her cheekbones. Her own hands found their way around his neck, tangling in the short, soft hairs at his nape.
Pete’s gaze, when he pulled back just enough to look at her, was intense, full of adoration and a simmering desire that made Jennie’s stomach flutter.
“Been a long week,” he said, his voice a little husky now.
“Too long,” she agreed, her fingers tracing the sharp line of his jaw. “I missed this.” She gestured vaguely between them, to the space their bodies occupied, to the easy comfort and thrilling anticipation that always accompanied their reunions.
Pete’s lips brushed her temple, then her earlobe, sending a shiver down her spine. “And I missed you, my golden girl.” He lifted her effortlessly into his arms, and Jennie wrapped her legs around him, burying her face in the crook of his neck.
“Where to, captain?” she whispered, a playful lilt in her voice.
He carried her through the softly lit living room, the city lights painting muted patterns on the walls. His answer was a low, confident growl against her ear. “Somewhere we can truly shine.”
The bedroom was a sanctuary, bathed in the soft glow of a bedside lamp. He set her down gently on the edge of the bed, his hands still on her waist, his eyes never leaving hers.
