The St. Barts sun, a decadent golden orb, was already painting the horizon in hues of rose and tangerine as Nicollette stretched languidly on her towel. The turquoise water lapped at her toes, a gentle, rhythmic hum that was almost a lullaby. Her bikini, a slip of sapphire silk, was doing its job of barely containing, and absolutely showcasing. The ocean spray, still clinging to the fabric, made the peek-through even more tantalizing, a whisper of what lay beneath.
A shadow fell over her, and she didn't need to open her eyes to know who it was. The scent of a familiar, expensive cologne, a hint of something earthy and masculine, preceded his voice. "Still basking, my siren?" Michael Bolton’s tone, surprisingly, had shed its power ballad gravitas for something softer, more intimate.
She chuckled, a low, throaty sound that vibrated through her. "Just soaking up the last of the day’s magic, Michael. And perhaps, preparing for the night." Her eyes, when they finally opened, were the color of warm honey, glinting with playful mischief. She sat up, her movements fluid and unhurried, the delicate straps of her top shifting enticingly. The briefest glimpse of underboob, a flash of creamy skin, was a silent invitation.
He offered her a chilled glass of rosé, the condensation beading on the crystal. Their fingers brushed, a spark that wasn't entirely from the setting sun. "Magic, indeed," he murmured, his gaze lingering on the curve of her waist, the tempting swell of her breasts beneath the damp fabric. He'd long shed the infamous mullet, and with it, perhaps, some of the preconceived notions about him. Now, there was a quiet intensity in his eyes, a depth that Nicollette had come to appreciate.
She took a slow sip, her lips glistening. "And you, still charming the birds out of the trees?"
He sat beside her, close enough that their knees almost touched. "Only the most beautiful ones." His voice was a low rumble, a counterpoint to the gentle waves. The air between them thrummed with an unspoken current, a familiar dance of attraction that was as much a part of their St. Barts routine as the sun and the sea. The "how" and "why" of their connection was irrelevant in this moment, dissolved by the salty air and the promise of a night that was just beginning to unfurl. The stars were starting to prick the darkening sky, each one a tiny, glittering secret. And some secrets, Nicollette knew, were best explored in the delicious twilight.
Nicollette, however, was the masterpiece. She’d chosen a bikini so scant, it seemed less an article of clothing and more a whispered suggestion of fabric. The bottom half was a dare, clinging precariously to the curve of her derriere, while the top, now slick with pool water, offered a tantalizing, almost transparent glimpse of her breasts.
She emerged from the cool embrace of the water, a slow-motion siren ascending from the depths. Each droplet that clung to her skin seemed to magnify the inherent magnetism she exuded. Perched on a lounge chair nursing a mojito, he felt his carefully constructed composure unravel with every graceful step she took. He’d known Nicollette for years, a casual friendship born of shared social circles, but this was a Nicollette he was entirely unprepared for.
Her laughter, a bright, melodic sound, carried across the patio as she playfully shook her head, sending a spray of water droplets arcing towards him. “Careful, you’ll drown in your drink if you stare any harder,” she teased, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
He cleared his throat, feeling a blush creep up his neck. “Just admiring the view, Nicollette. It’s stunning.” The words felt inadequate, a pale imitation of the fiery admiration coursing through him. The damp fabric of her top clung to her, highlighting every exquisite curve, leaving little to the imagination.
