"Hi. Are you the guy I am supposed to meet?" Brie Larson asks me, her voice a low, melodic hum that instantly disarms me. She's standing in the doorway of what I can only assume is her home, bathed in the soft, golden glow of late afternoon sun filtering through the entryway. Her smile is genuine, crinkling the corners of her eyes, a smile I’ve seen countless times on screen but which feels entirely different, more personal, up close.

I manage a slightly breathless, "That's me. And you must be Brie."

She steps back, gesturing me in. "Come on in. Don't just stand there." As I cross the threshold, the scent of something warm and spicy – cinnamon, maybe, or star anise – hangs in the air, mingling with the faint, clean smell of her perfume. It’s a comforting, lived-in sort of warmth. We’ve only exchanged a handful of emails, orchestrated by a mutual friend, but already the awkwardness I anticipated is melting away.

"It's good to finally put a face to the emails," she says, extending her arms. Before I can fully process it, she's pulling me into a hug. It's not a perfunctory, Hollywood-style air-kiss, but a real, warm embrace. Her arms wrap around my shoulders, and I feel the soft silk of her blouse against my cheek, the slight press of her body against mine. It's a surprisingly intimate gesture, given we’ve just met, and a jolt of something unexpected – warmth, connection, a hint of curiosity – shoots through me.

"You too," I reply, my voice a little rougher than I intended, returning the hug. Her hair brushes my ear, soft and fragrant. For a moment, the world outside the golden-lit entryway fades. There’s just the two of us, a quiet hum of unspoken anticipation in the air. When we pull apart, her eyes, a startlingly clear blue, hold mine. There's a knowing glint there, a shared understanding that this meeting, whatever its stated purpose, might be about more than just business.

"Let's get you a drink," she says, a slight curve to her lips, leading me further into a living room dominated by overflowing bookshelves and a grand piano. The air crackles with unspoken possibilities. I had come prepared for a professional discussion, but the way she looks at me, the way she holds my gaze, suggests this evening might take a decidedly different turn. And for the first time in a long time, I'm entirely open to it.

The late afternoon sun, usually so bold, seemed to soften as it filtered through Brie's blinds, casting long, lazy shadows across her living room. I shifted on the plush, velvet couch, the material a gentle caress against my jeans. Next to me, Brie was a study in casual elegance – a loose-knit sweater, jeans that hugged her curves just so, a mug of now-cold tea perched on the coffee table.

Our conversation had drifted from work to weekend plans, a comfortable, mundane rhythm that masked the electric current humming beneath the surface. I could feel her gaze, a weightless touch, lingering. It wasn't overt, no blatant stare, but a series of quick, almost imperceptible glances, each one a brushfire igniting a little more heat within me.

I caught her eye once, a fleeting moment where her usual playful sparkle was replaced by something deeper, more avaricious. She quickly averted her gaze, a faint blush rising on her cheeks, but the message was clear. She wasn't just hearing my words; she was feeling my presence. And that presence, I knew, was currently making itself quite obvious beneath the denim.

A silence settled, thick and potent. The air, usually filled with our easy banter, now throbbed with unspoken desires.
