It seemed that Mekayla was in town checking out some local poetry when the guy she came with got jealous when the host was tryin to talk to her and left her. Kevin wound up giving her a ride to the train station. Mekayla was quite a talker and Kevin enjoyed listening to her. He remembered laughing at how animated she got when she discussed the situation. Her eyes would dart back and forth and she would talk a mile a minute. She was also very witty and some of the statements she would make would have Kevin belting out in laughter.

Upon arriving at the train station, Mekayla tried to offer Kevin money but he asked for her phone number instead. Mekayla complied, along with an email address and they stayed in touch. After a few late- night conversations that seemed to last into the wee hours of the morning, Kevin realized that they had a lot in common. Mekayla like the same music as he did, had the same spiritual beliefs, and the topper was that she knew more about sports than the average female. Not only that, but she was actually intelligent.

She had a degree in education and taught creative writing and drama to teenagers in an after-school program. Kevin himself was a basketball coach and taught high school English so they were both concerned about the future of tomorrow and talked about it often.

That conversation led to the death of Hip -Hop conversation. They both agreed that the stuff that was in rotation now was garbage and how the real artists suffered. They both loved art and reading. He was so impressed by her. And even though they didn't see each other for a whole year after their first initial meeting, sometimes he thought about her eggplant colored lips and wild eyes.

Mekayla had called Kevin one late Thursday evening and told him she would be in town that weekend performing and wanted to know if he would meet her for lunch.

Kevin agreed and when he saw her again she looked even shorter than she did the first time they met. She gave Kevin a hug and squeezed him tight, which made Kevin feel things he wasn't used to feeling. He had been in relationships before and had even been in love a few times but for some unknown reason there was something missing from the relationship.

Being with Mekayla was so natural and easy he often contemplated what it would be like to be in a relationship with her. They talked about everything during lunch and then went to a museum. He found nothing awkward in walking arm and arm with her. He just really enjoyed her company.

That night Kevin went to see her perform and was blown away by her talent. They had drinks afterwards and then he walked her to her hotel.

Mekayla sent no vibes that she wanted to sleep with him, and to be honest for the first time in a long time, Kevin did not want to mess up the friendship they were starting. They gave each other a goodnight hug and promised to have breakfast in the morning.

Kevin was actually nervous as he leant down to kiss her, and was surprised at how receptive but sweet her kisses were. She tasted like cinnamon and the Obsession she wore drove him bananas. They kissed again

And again.

Each kiss was a little more passionate.

But Mekayla stopped them saying if they didn't stop now it would look like a bad Big Red commercial.

As usual Kevin laughed like hell, which made her laugh.

He dug her laugh.

He dug her.

It took him six more months to express that to her and another six months for them to agree to this long- distance thing. He knew he loved her.

And now, he was jealous over a character in a book.

To be honest, he was glad she deleted it.
