When Souls Remember
Some Loves don't begin; they return.

The little town was quiet. Everything, and everyone, seemed perfect. Families went to church every Sunday, and faith was woven into the town's identity. That was exactly why Raven Hollow stood out. She may not have been religious, but she was deeply spiritual, and somehow that always seemed to bring her good fortune.
Raven lived in a house hidden deep within the woods. Hidden in the sense that it wasn't out in the open, though everyone knew exactly where it was. The house was painted black from top to bottom, with blood-red shutters, matching window frames, and a red picket fence that surrounded the property.
She grew up living with her Grandma Winnifried Hollow, who was just as out there as Raven.
Raven loved showing up to church every Sunday morning dressed entirely in black. No one dared kick her out, though.
After all...
She needed Jesus.
All of that changed when Hawthorne Graves came to town.
He was every bit as dark as Raven.
But his soul was pure.
For the two of them, it was love at first sight. One evening, Raven was walking through the park so she could feed the ducks, and from across the pond, her eyes met his. Hawthorne was just as entranced as any other guy, but Raven knew her soul needed his. So around the lake they ran to each other.
“Who are you?” She asked, jumping into his arms. “I don’t even know your name, but it feels like we’ve met before”
“We have,” he whispered. “Meet me at your place in an hour. I have so much to tell you, my love. “
“Let me give you my address,” Raven offered.
“Dear, I know where you live,” he simply stated
With that, he kissed her goodbye.
How did she know this man? He wasn’t a one-night stand. If she felt this way seeing him across a pond, she would have definitely felt something more while sleeping with him.
She rushes home and freshens up, pulling on fresh black lingerie just in case.
An hour later, Hawthorne arrived dressed just as sharply.
She led him inside and sat on the couch, and Raven began to sit next to him.
“I wouldn’t sit too close. The chemistry between us is very extreme. I will be inside you in seconds. I have too much to tell you”
So, she sat in her chaise lounge across the way.
“ My name is Hawthorne Graves… in this life.” He began, “ We’ve always belonged to each other’”
This seemed familiar to Raven. Like she had lived it before, almost like a tiny memory tucked away. “How do you remember, and I don’t?”
“It’s about reincarnation. A few years ago, I was feeling lonely, so I started doing these regression things with a hypnotist to see if I could get to the root of my feelings “
Raven took the chance and moved closer, and put her hand on his leg, but she could see the expression on his face change from thoughtful to aroused. Raven moved her hand back.
He smiled.
“Anyway, during the first session, I remembered something from the beginning of time and our families are just one of the only remaining ones to practice this.”
Raven raised an eyebrow, a bit unsure. “My parents? They weren’t alive at the beginning of time.”
Hawthorne chuckled. “I know, but one thing at a time. You can ask questions as we go. I don’t want to overwhelm you.”
She smiled. He tried to shake the thought out of the two of them together out of his head. That smile of hers did so much for him. It had been over a century since he got to be next to her, much less inside of her.
He continued, “I could remember you. But not completely. In the last session I had, I saw all our lives together. Past, future, and… present. “
She was moving closer, trying to hold herself back. “Why do I feel drunk on love?”
Her scent was lingering in the air now. He sat up a bit, adjusting himself, letting out a little cough. “We haven’t had each other in some time. You are feeling desire, longing, and need. Don’t worry, I won’t be able to deny you much longer, but there is a story to be told here. “
Raven backed away a tiny bit. “Fine, I’ll behave”
“Our last few lifetimes, we didn’t get to be together. It took a while for me to find out this time, and I still don’t know everything yet. In my last session, I saw a town name and knew that's where you were. Our souls are meant to be drawn to one another. That was two days ago. I just got into town.”
Raven understood now why the need for him was so strong. She knew how it was to go without sex. She couldn’t go more than a week or two. Their souls had gone without that for quite some time.
Raven finally understood why she felt so lonely all the time.
She reached for his hand. “If we need each other and it’s been as long as you say, then can you we talk later and connect?”
Hawthorne laughed again “Oh.. so you’re forward in this life?” He joked. “That’s new.”
Grabbing his hand, Raven led him to the bedroom.
