The carriage was traveling along the road when a group of bandits came upon them. They were dressed in black and they were armed with swords and guns. The wolves growled as they followed their masters. The bandits stopped the carriage. One of them grabbed the driver and pulled him off the carriage. He was thrown to the ground. The soldiers sprung into action and attacked the bandits. One of the guards knocked on the door of the carriage. Maid Corrine opened the door and looked out. The Soldier informed her of the bandit attack. He also instructed her to lock the door and secure the window. She was to keep the lady calm and no one was to leave the carriage. Maid Corrine nodded and closed the door. She locked it then told Maid Mauve to secure the window. The other woman nodded and closed the metal grate over the window. Lady Andromeda woke to the sounds of the blades clashing and the gun fire outside before Maid Corrine was able to wake her. “What is happening?” the lady asked. “M'Lady, we have come across a group of bandits. The soldiers are taking care of it. Remain calm, remember Sir Rahael has sent his best to keep you safe. The bandits will not have a chance to get to the carriage.” Maid Corrine assured. Lady Andromeda could not help but worry. She tried to remain calm on the surface. She had to trust her husband and entrusted her to.

The battle raged outside. Something hit the window and made the women jump. Lady Andromeda could not help but look outside. A bandit had been thrown into the window. She could see his lifeless eyes and the blood splattered across the glass. She became scared and hid her face in her hands. Maid Corrine and Maid Mauve sat next to the lady and held her. They would not let her look out the window again. Several moments later it was quiet outside. A knock can at the door. Maid Corrine opened the door and a soldier stood outside. He was covered in blood and was disheveled. “How is the lady?” he asked. “She will be fine. Could someone clean the window? There is a fair amount of blood on it and it frightened the lady.” she responded. “Yes, ma’am. We will clean the carriage then we will continue our journey. The driver has decided to move faster to try and avoid any more attacks.” he informed. Maid Corrine nodded and closed the door. She returned to her mistress and let her know that they would be traveling fast so she needed to stay on the cot and try not to move. Maid  Mauve sat next to her and held her hand.

The carriage moved at a rapid place, making it difficult to keep the lady from falling off the cot. Maid Corrine and Maid Mauve sat next to the lady and held her. The carriage wheels bounced through divots and potholes in the road. The lady was still frightened and kept her head down. Finally the carriage started to slow and came to a stop. The women were able to relax. “M'Lady, are you alright?” she questioned. “I will be. My muscles hurt but I do not feel like anything is broken.” the lady responded. Someone knocked on the door. Maid Corrine opened the door to find a guard. “We have stopped in a small village to allow the horses to rest. If the lady would like to stretch her legs, no is the time.” he informed. “Thank you.” Maid Corrine responded. She turned to Lady Andromeda, “M'Lady, would you like to get out and walk around a little.” she asked. Lady Andromeda nodded and they prepared to leave the carriage. Maid Corrine and Maid Mauve stepped out and helped their mistress out. The lady was a little shaky but was able to stand on her own. Maid Corrine and Maid Mauve helped her walk to a grassy area next to the road. Lady Andromeda stretched her arms to the sky and leaned back to stretch out her back. She looked up to the sky and smiled. She smelled the fresh air and felt the sun on her face. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment. Lady Andromeda opened her eyes and looked around. She looked to her guards and could see that the battle had taken a toll on them. They were covered in blood and were breathing heavily. She smiled and walked over to them. “Thank you all. I appreciate you being here for me.” she said. “You’re welcome, M'Lady. It is our job to protect you even if that means with our lives.” The captain of the guard responded. Lady Andromeda smiled and patted his shoulder. She returned to her Maids who were  watching her. She took her hand and helped her to the ground. Lady Andromeda enjoyed the feel of the grass under her feet. She looked up at the sky and noticed the  clouds. She smiled and watched them as they moved across the sky. “M'Lady are you hungry or would you like something to drink?” Maid Mauve inquired. “I think something to drink would be just fine.” Lady Andromeda responded, still watching the clouds.

Maid Mauve stood and returned to the carriage. Where she retrieved the water container and some cups. One of the guards took notice and approached to assist Maid Mauve. She gladly accepted the help and returned to her mistress. She handed the cups to Lady Andromeda and Maid Corrine. The women drank in silence. When finished, Lady Andromeda handed the cup back to Maid Mauve and laid back down to watch the clouds. A couple of hours later, the guards said they were ready to head to Lemia. The women nodded and returned to the carriage. The carriage returned to its previous rapid pace. Lady Andromeda sat on her cot and stared out the window. That started to make her feel sick so she turned away and stared at the floor. The trip fell into silence, Lady Andromeda returned to her worry about her new role in life.
