“Contacts in the auxiliary corridor,” Gunnarsson said, and slammed another clip into his rifle. The walls were already shredded to fibers, and enemy plasma bolts splashed against his thin barricade.

“They’re refusing to pull the plug,” Zhou said from his position outside Engineering.

Idiots.

The floor shuddered.

Gunnarsson leaned out for another volley, but was greeted by an empty corridor.

“All units retreat! All Units–” Zhou’s voice disappeared.

“Holy shit what is tha–”

“Keep it away from the bulkhead!”

Static followed. The decks shuddered, vibrating once more, then stilling.

The corridor went black.

He was trapped...

…and it was coming.
