She was a woman who helped others, but that did not go down well with the elders of the village. They declared her a witch and said she would be burned in the town square.

She was tied to the stake, and brushwood was piled around her ready to be lit. She protested her innocence, but the patriarchs were determined to have their way.

Then, from the sky, twelve ravens flew down, they attacked the patriarchs and scared off the villagers and then pecked at the ropes holding her to the stake.

She walked free.

To the patriarchy, this proved she was a witch, but not one they could attack.

She knew the truth.

She was just a woman, a good woman, but a woman.

She had no doubt that she had been saved by magic.

The ravens spoke to her and told her that if she ever needed help, the twelve ravens would return.

The villagers knew they had a good woman in their midst, and they had seen her magical protectors.

They would cherish her, and no longer take notice of the lies of the patriarchy.
