The Cardinal barges in when Maggie is about to speak and insists on speaking with the King. The king is annoyed, but he hears the Cardinal’s comments. The Cardinal says “this woman is not to be believed and she is a witch with instruments of evil”. Maggie yells out “that’s a lie”. The King faces Maggie and asks her to approach him. King Louis XIV asks Maggie if she is really from the future. Maggie says “yes”, and “ I am from the future”. Maggie tells the King that the Cardinal took away her camera an instrument that takes instant portraits of people. King Louis orders the Cardinal to return the camera. The Paige is ordered by the Cardinal to fetch it from his room. Maggie pulls out her phone and shows the King that it takes photos and has a flashlight, as Maggie turns on the light. Maggie explains that the phone is a talking device where people can speak to each other around the world. Maggie explains that the phone will work temporarily because it needs an energy source to charge it such as electricity. Maggie explains electricity and how it powers many items in the future such as indoor air conditioning, refrigerators, TVs, cameras, and phones. Maggie shows the KIng photos of her car and a photo of the airplane she boarded to take her trip to France. Maggie shows the King images from the future. The King is shocked and amazed at the images he has seen. The King believes Maggie and is charmed by her. The paige returns with the camera and Maggie shows the photos she took. The Cardinal starts to say that it is an evil instrument to steal souls. Maggie says “No”, it's only an instrument that creates instant portraits and does not harm anyone.

These instruments work by taking portraits of people only when the devices remain charged until it no longer works. Maggie tells the King about the current war in Ukraine and Russia and how it has affected the world. Maggie describes how the modern marvel of medicine has changed the life expectancy of many around the world. The King is intrigued by all of her talk about the future. Especially, medicine for the King has a medical issue of great importance regarding his son the Dauphine. The Dauphine is seriously ill and may not survive. The King asks Maggie if she could help. Maggie says she is not a doctor but she could suggest an idea to a doctor. Maggie asks for old moldy bread to be placed in a clean jar and to allow it to ferment for three days.

The three days pass and Maggie requests that the fermented bread be placed inside a medical bottle. Maggie tells the doctor that they must inject the solution into the Dauphine. The doctor uses a hollow goose quill as a syringe and reluctantly administers the solution into the Dauphine. The dauphine is unconscious and with fever when the antibiotic is administered. Within hours, the dauphine is awake and alert. The King is grateful and happy that the KIng asks Maggie what would she desire. Maggie says she desires nothing but Thanks the King for asking her. Maggie is getting homesick for her home in the future. The King insists that Maggie remain a guest at Versailles as they return from Paris. The King insists on a lavish ceremony since the Dauphine is cured.

King Louis XIV insists on a lavish ceremony for the Dauphine’s recovery. The King sends Maggie a beautiful gown and jewels for the event. Maggie is surprised and she attends the event. The King announces the quick recovery of the Dauphine at court and congratulates Maggie for her assistance. As a reward, the King orders that Maggie be allowed to remain at Versailles for the duration of her life. Maggie doesn’t know what to say, she is speechless and somehow finds a way to say “ Thank you, your highness”. Maggie is truly astonished and is grateful.

Maggie is honored by the King as she remains at the ceremony at the court. Maggie is happy and getting used to the idea she may never return home.

The next day, Maggie decides to walk through the gardens of Versailles and she finds the small footbridge she had walked before. A thick fog sets in and maggie reluctantly walks over the footbridge in the fog blindly. Maggie continues to walk and hears nothing. As she walks further she begins to hear german voices and Maggie thinks to herself that there are international people at Versailles now. Maggie is reaching the end of the footbridge and she sees one person at the end of the bridge. It is a young gentleman and groundskeeper. Maggie asks the gentlemen who seem surprised at her clothing. What year is it? The gentleman looks puzzled and in a german accent says it’s 1943.

Maggie drops to the ground and starts to shake in disbelief. Will I ever get home? She asks.
