He was tempted. For an initial investment and a little hard work, he could make his fortune and ensure a stable and successful future. He saved up and got his foot in the door:

They: "Welcome, we are so glad to have you here, and we are so looking forward to working together with you. Here's a cup of coffee, we hope you drink coffee, there is milk and sugar if you want it, so just sit down and wait. Someone will come with your uniform and show you to your desk"

Him: "Thank you, I prefer my coffee black, so that is fine. I didn't realise I would have to wear a uniform or that this would be a desk-based role. You never told me that in the interview, and it wasn't mentioned in the job advertisement."

They: "That is the way we work here. Take it or leave it. We pay you on a daily basis, but you have to cover your desk and office rental as well. You probation period is eight days. That is our specification, now come and take up your position and your desk. Do not talk to anyone, and just do what you are told and follow our instructions."

He was led to a desk in a huge office. Every desk had a uniformed employee at a keyboard and computer screen. It was a dismally lit place.

Him: "Why are we not allowed to talk to anyone? What if I need questions answered?"

They: "You will be told everything that you need to know. You will be instraucted in the tasks that you will be expected to carry out. You will have no need to ask questions or speak to anyone, especially other employees. That would be a breach of the contract you signed and will result in your dismissal."

Him: "I am not sure I should be here. Maybe I should not have come."

They: "You are here for a purpose, believe that"

They: "I thinks it's time now, his account is way overdrawn, we can't get any more out of it. He is no use to us anymore and his work is rubbish and irrelevant. We only wanted the money anyway"

They2: "Ok, I will call him in and get him out of the office"

He was called into a manager's office and sat down. He did not know why. He had been working very hard and received no complaints. In fact, he realised, he had never left his desk since he started here. How many days was that? He realised he had been here for more than a week:

They2: "Your probabtion period is complete, but unfortunately you did not meet our required criteria, so it is time to leave"

Him: "What have I done wrong? Can you give me some feedback? Can I try again?"

They2: "We never give feedback or reasins. It is up to you to be your best self. Now go. We don't want you"

He left and needed some money to get home, so he found an ATM and just asked for five. It was rejected. He checked the balance, and he was over five hundred overdrawn.

The company had not paid him and had also taken all the money from his account as "desk and office rental".

He turned and went back, but the building he had left was now a derelict, empty warehouse

He hoped his bank would be able to help, but that would have to wait til tomorrow. His money must have gone somewhere, but he had let them have permission to take rentals from his account.
