Cathy Harris graded papers. She peered at the news alert on her tablet. The headline read that two former Cooney Academy students were crowdsourcing to establish their own school. Nidal Kauer sipped his coffee while reading the entire article. Harold Bucknell got up from his chair after seeing the headline.

Myson and Gadot’s phones blew up.

“We’re going to need to answer those,” Myson pointed out. They were texts simply reading, “Alino’s.”

Bucknell arrived first. Cathy and Kaur soon got to the restaurant.

“We appreciate you all being here. We know that quitting your jobs wasn’t something worth doing, so we accepted our expulsion. Now, what we’re asking from all of you is bits of knowledge on how to conduct ourselves as the leaders in an educational environment,” Myson said.

“That’s right. We have the tools, the Internet, coding capabilities, some money, we just need the backing to put us ahead,” Gadot explained.

“First you’re gonna need to utilize those tools together to make the site streamlined. You should find retired teachers to help you; perhaps they just finished working for another school, and would want to find new employment,” Cathy mentioned.

Kaur spoke next. “I think what you two are doing is really great. Once the money’s right, I’ll be willing to teach a few courses.”

Bucknell chimed, “I think we all will. Just don’t second-guess yourselves, or let anyone tell you you’re too young to do this. There are parents younger than you who have raised children on their own. What’s stopping you both from teaching anyone else’s children?”

“We talked and have decided to be seed investors in the company on top of the money you may already have,” Cathy said.

“We’re putting up $33,000 each to help you with startup costs,” Kaur said.

“We thank you all. If we have to fight the crits in this manner, we will do so. We understand the money will be used for better resources, and a corporate structure. I’m glad we can set up the company in our home state of Delaware as a corporation,” Gadot said.

“We’re going to do everything in our power to ensure that you both know what you’re doing and can enjoy the process of teaching. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely rewarding. The fact that the Daily Delaware has picked up on your idea shows how profound your actions are. We will stand with you in all of your endeavors to fight CRT,” Kaur said.

“You both were just on the edge of graduating from an academy that before the crits infiltrated, was like a first or second year in most universities. Use whatever goodness the academy provided you. Whatever we may have taught you, never lose sight of the message we offered,” Bucknell said.

“That’s the key. We’re going to employ all of your lessons and imbue them in our curriculum. We’re going to make it K-12 so kids can grow up in the school. We’re going to place an emphasis on building character and excluding diversity for its own sake. Multiculturalism will be absent from all the lesson plans put on the table. And of course the crits will be scrambling to keep up with our radical way of disseminating information.”

“It seems like you’ve got your intentions in order. Just remember that you are going to be mocked, ridiculed, and hated. Your youth will be a distinctive signpost for others to hang their own insecurities and loathing on,” Cathy said.

“With your contributions, we should be more than ready to grow our company,” Gadot replied. “We’re fully aware of the hatred coming towards us. We shrug at it.”

“That’s one solid way of responding. Let no one come close to discouraging you from your goals,” Bucknell said.

“So, what are you calling this venture?” Kaur asked.

Gadot and Myson looked at each other. “The School of the Student,” they said in unison.
