There was a town that barely stood taller than the crown of trees surrounding it, protecting it like a stone gate to a castle.

It wasn’t like the buildings were short or the trees enormous; the land was a mix of hills and level ground.

But the center of town stood above the trees so everyone could find their way.

And there were many paths and roads, each showcasing the beauty of the natural surroundings without impeding the land’s flow or disrupting the animals’ routines.

Not that the town didn’t possess any charms.

It had been around for many years, and most of the older structures remained intact and well-maintained, its historical aesthetic creating a fond nostalgia.

Even travelers felt at home in its warmth.

Of course, new buildings intermingled with the old as the town grew and changed, reflecting the past and future.

However, its old yet vibrant soul could never fade or be demolished, for each person carried a piece of it inside them.

Great story Amethyst. I love all those older European towns. Very modern now, yet still have that touch from the past. Well done.

  • This is so sweet… especially the last line “each person carried a piece of it inside them. Thank you😊
