This picture was taken on my first ever shark dive in Hawaii which was a huge inspiration on this short story.

Schools out! both on land and at sea!

As summer begins and tourists venture out so does the majestic wonders of the sea. you see when we enter the waters we are intruding into their homes and habits. we disturb and corrupt their everyday life’s. Here is a story of a young shark pup named ivy who made friends with a dog on land.

Ivy a young blue shark pup woke up one morning and her mother warned her of the upcoming swarms of humans that enter the water every summer and not to get close to the shores because they will try and hurt us. Of course, Ivy as any pup would have a million questions for her mother. why do they want to hurt us? ivy asked. Luna explained that as a shark, humans are trained to fear us, not knowing we truly mean no harm. ivy young and confused did not seem that was fair but went upon her day. the next day ivy noticed a lot of commotion amongst the other sea life. curios, she wanted to see for herself what was going on. she noticed something sitting on the shore and observed from a far. what is this thing with four legs swimming thru the waters? it has a fin like tail that wags and helps it swim is it a sea animal she is never seen before? she continued to observe until the creature left. that night she told her mom what she saw. Luna after telling her to stay away from the shores was angry but also wanted to be understanding and explained to ivy that it was a dog. a land puppy. fascinated. ivy wanted to know everything about this land puppy. for the next few days ivy watched the shores from a distance observing the actions of this land puppy. it is so cute she thought to herself I just need a closer look. as she slow approached the shoreline her excitement was hard to restrain. she creeped up to a large rock coral the land pup was feet away. the puppy noticed ivy out of the corner of his eye and excited as well hopped over to the coral rock to investigate. ivy frightened quickly tried to swim away but was stuck in some sort of net she is never seen before. ivy began to panic yelp for her mom and tried as hard as she could to get free but just made it worse. the land pup slowly approached ivy and said calm down I will help you. ivy confused panicked even more until she finally gave up trying to free herself. the land pup said hi I am Odin I will not hurt you I promise. ivy having no other choice allowed the pup to help. after Odin chewed the net where she was stuck ivy was finally free. thank you so much that was so nice of your ivy could not stop saying. Odin glad he was able to help replied I have a ball you want to play? that sounds like fun ivy said the two of them swam and played for hours playing catching with Odin’s big yellow ball because sharks see contrast this was an amazing time for ivy. The two pups played until the sun began to set. I must go home before my mom gets mad at me Odin said. Me too replied Ivy. I had a lot of fun today; do you want to be my friend Odin asked. WOW shouted Ivy; I have never had a friend before SURE! Ill meet you here tomorrow Odin yelled as he ran towards the crowds of people. The two meet up the next day and talked for hours they laughed they played, they swam off to different parts of the waters, Ivy even caught a fish from them to eat for lunch. The two of them continued to hang out all summer they were inseparable. Literally became best friends. As summer came to an end, the two of them could not stand the thought of not being able to see each other for so long. We must make a promise to come back to this same exact place the same time next year. The two of them said their goodbyes and sadly had to swim away for the last time.
