The strength of a leader reflects the coven.

My own take on reiki too

"Choku Rei" cried Duraielle the coven's head healer as she channelled reiki into her hurt coven member's arm.

Cookefliss who the arm belonged winced in pain for a few seconds. Then as if by magic the wound disappeared.

She looked up and smiled.

“Thanks” she mumbled and then went back to sleep.

Their coven High priest, Magna came up to the pair and checked up on his coven subordinates.

“I see your reiki is still going strong” mused Magna as he checked in on Cookefliss. By now she was fast asleep and there was no trace of the wound.

“Yes, High priest” Duraielle nodded.

They both looked at each other and then far over the clearing where the rest of their coven was either lounging about or practising their tricks of the trade.

It wasn’t long they thought before the rest of the coven would find out. They knew each other very well. They basically lived together, hunted together, and conducted magic together. They were basically together 24/7.

So far though, only three of them knew so far. Meglodona their head seer had predicted a dire warning two full moons back. That Duraielle’s reiki was waning. And fast. Soon, it would go dry. And having their head healer’s reiki go dry would be a very horrible thing to happen to the coven.

There were other healers of course, who knew reiki well. But Duraielle was the best in the coven, possibly in across all covens across the world. She had nursed many entities back from the brink of death into life again . She also nursed entities back into the afterlife. It was because of her, they had a perfect survival rate. She could cure anything in the world. She had even tried to cure her waning using reiki itself.

Magna sighed as he surveyed the scene. They had just survived a fight with a pack of rogue velociraptor-unicorns. That was a very easy fight and yet only one member Cookefliss got hurt, even if very marginally. It was due to Duraielle’s reiki that she would be back to as good as new in a few hours.

But that wasn’t the point Magna , mused. What if their mortal enemies, the Katara Katanas , lead an ambush. Both covens were evenly matched with numbers in the multiple dozens and comparative skills. But the Katara Katanas had no reiki grand healer like Magna’s coven did. That’s what had kept them on edge until now.

Once Magna had had a dream . In that dream, Kurdal, the famous harvest moon specialist of the Katara Katanas had snatched their omega member, Kharasi away whilst she recharged herself. Kurdal then tortured their omega until she was nothing more than a pile of ashes.

Now with the prophecy by Meglodona, he was showing signs of worry for his coven. He was the High priest after all. This was his coven; he was their political leader. He had never been told of a negative prophecy before. But he knew that when the coven is in peril, they need their High priest to be strong.

He looked over at Duraielle and smiled his special smile. When most people smiled you could tell that they were smiling, but it was harder to know when people were frowning. This was because smiles normally stood out more than frowns. But Magna, owing to his weathered skin, made frowns appear more pronounced than smiles. So, he must really have been putting in the effort.

“High priest” began Duraielle, her eyes full of apprehension.

“It is only a matter of time, before they your reiki starts falling and then the others start wondering, I know” Magna said, his frown reappearing.

“But I think I know a way. Our cousin coven the Coven-flesh-eating Aghoris probably know the solution. But I think it means that you must re do your reiki training again and return before it gets suspicious”.

Duraielle nodded.

Magna replied- “We will have to find a reason for you to visit them, and as always, we must bring freshly seared coven meat”.
