The last emperor, Emperor Shun (also known as Emperor Huizong), was so despotic and brutal that the treasury was empty and prices were soaring. The last emperor, Yuan Shundi (also known as Yuan Huizong), was so despotic and brutal that he left the treasury empty and prices soaring.

The first of these was the first time that the government had a chance to decide on the issue. When Han grew up, he continued to organize the White Lotus Society (a secret religious organization) and gathered many suffering peasants to burn incense and worship Buddha. Han Shandong told them that the Buddha would send Maitreya Buddha down to save the people now that the world was in chaos. This legend soon spread to Henan and Jianghuai, and the people were looking forward to the day when Maitreya Buddha would come down to earth.

It so happened that at this time, the Yellow River broke at the Baimao embankment, and it rained heavily for more than 20 days in a row, flooding the people on both sides of the river with serious flooding. Some people suggested to the court to block the place of the breach, in addition to the Huanglinggang (now Cao County, Shandong Province, southwest) to dig the river and dredge the river. In 1351 A.D., the Yuan Dynasty drafted 150,000 people and 20,000 soldiers from Bianliang (now Kaifeng, Henan Province) and Daimyo to open the river in Huanglinggang.

The river construction project started. The workers were forced to work day and night under the scorching sun and rain, but the funds allocated by the imperial court for the opening of the river were deducted by the officials who ruled the river. The workers could not even get enough to eat, and there were many complaints.

Han Shan Tong decided to seize this opportunity to mobilize the masses. He first sent hundreds of apprentices to do the picking of the river, in the site to spread a folk song.

"Stone man one eye, pick the Yellow River world against."

The workers do not know what this song means, but hearing the "world against" three words in it, they feel that the good days are coming. When the river was opened to Huanglinggang, a few workers dug and dug and suddenly dug out a stone man. Everyone curiously gathered to take a look, only to see the stone man's face is an eye, can not help but freeze. This novelty was quickly spread among more than 100,000 workers, and everyone thought, "What the folk said came true, since the stone man came out, the day of the world rebellion has come naturally.

Needless to say, the stone man was secretly buried there by Han Shandong in advance. The people were encouraged to get up. Han Shandong had a partner, Liu Futong, who said to Han Shandong that the people still missed the Song Dynasty now that the Yuan Dynasty was oppressing them so much. If they raised the banner of restoring the Song Dynasty, more people would support them. Han Shandong was very much in favor of this idea, so he announced to everyone that Han Shantong's surname was not Han, but Zhao, and that he was the eighth generation grandson of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty by generation; Liu Futong was also the descendant of Liu Guangshi, a great general of the Southern Song Dynasty. They said so nose-to-eye, and the people listened, but also can not help but believe.

Han Shandong and Liu Futong picked a day, gathered a group of people, killed a white horse and a black cow, and sacrificed them to heaven and earth. Everyone pushed Han Shandong to be the leader, called "King Ming, and agreed on a date to revolt in Yingzhou, Ying Shang (now Honghui Fuyang, Ying Shang), wrapping his head with a red scarf as the mark of the rebellion. While taking the blood oath, someone leaked the news. The government sent soldiers to arrest Han Shandong and took him to the county office to be killed. Han Shantong's wife took his son, Han Liner, and escaped from the government and went into hiding in Wu'an (present-day Wu'an, Hebei).

Liu Futong escaped from the siege and gathered the peasants who had agreed to revolt and captured some strongholds such as Yingzhou. When the news reached them, they killed the river officials and defected to Liu Futong's team. Because the uprising soldiers had red scarves wrapped around their heads, the people at that time called them the Red Army, and history refers to it as the Red Turban Army. In less than ten days, the Red Turban Army had grown to more than 100,000 people.

The Yuan dynasty heard Liu Futong's great power and panicked, and hurriedly mobilized six thousand Simeon people to form the Azuchi army and several Han armies to suppress the Red Turban Army. Aso army was originally an elite team of the Yuan Dynasty, but at that time, already very corrupt, the generals only know to drink and enjoy themselves, and soldiers everywhere robbery. As soon as they met the Red Turban Army before they met, the general led the army, waving his whip, and rode backward and fled, shouting "Ab, Ab!" (Ab means to go.) When the soldiers below saw the general fleeing from the battle, they also fled in all directions.
