Long ago, when the Earth was still a young realm full of mysteries and enchantments, the world was silent, without the melody of music. All creatures lived in harmony, but they could not express their feelings beyond spoken words.

In this silent era, lived a young nymph named Euphonia, who was beloved by the wind. The wind enjoyed Euphonia’s company and admired her joy and enthusiasm, but it was saddened by her yearning for a way to express the feelings that words could not capture.

One day, the wind noticed Euphonia walking through a field of reeds. She was quiet and thoughtful, and her usual radiance seemed to have dimmed. Seeing her distress, the wind blew gently, brushing past her and the reeds. The reeds responded to the wind’s touch, producing a soft, soothing sound. Euphonia’s face lit up, her eyes sparkling with a new light.

“Euphonia, what do you think of this sound?” asked the wind.

“It is beautiful,” she replied, “like a voice without words, expressing all that cannot be spoken.”

Encouraged by her response, the wind blew more robustly, stirring the reeds and creating a melody that echoed across the field. Euphonia’s heart danced to the rhythm, and she knew that this was what she had been longing for.

For days and nights, Euphonia visited the field, enticing the wind to play its music through the reeds. She studied the sounds, the rhythms, and the emotions they conveyed. Eventually, she decided to recreate this melody.

With the wind’s guidance, Euphonia crafted the first musical instrument from the reeds. She learned to manipulate the wind’s breath through the reeds, creating different pitches and rhythms. It was the birth of music.

Word of Euphonia’s invention spread, and soon, every creature sought to learn this new language of emotion. Instruments of all shapes and sizes were created, each with their unique sound, inspired by the wind’s song in the reeds.

And that, dear listener, is the fabled origin of music. The wind, Euphonia, and the reeds gave the world a gift beyond words. So, whenever you hear a melody, remember it was born from a desire to express the feelings that words could not. And that is the legacy of Euphonia, the very first musician.
