The Shadows In The Corners
A Dark And Creepy Story Demanded By A Friend π
The Shadows
"Daddy, I'm scared, can I sleep with you tonight?"
He was a single parent. His wife had been killed in dubious circumstances last year, and despite going to trial nothing could be proved.
"You are a big boy now, why are you scared"
"There are things making shadows in the corners and they scare me"
"Now don't be silly, it's just the lights outside from the other buildings. People switch lights on and off"
He left his son crying and shut the door. They were on the 21st floor so he knew they were perfectly safe, but his son was not convinced.
His son watched the shadows change in the corners and then hid under the duvet. His tears stained the pillow but he drifted off to sleep.
The Morning
He called for his son, but there was no answer. He went to the door and knocked. No answer. He went it and the bed was empty.
He looked around the apartment, he thought his son may have got up early to watch television. The television was off.
He checked every room, but there was no sign of his son.
He didn't know what to do.
He felt a rising panic and eventually called the police who said they would be around within half an hour.
He sat and waited.
The entry videophone sounded and he let them come up.
Then came and took details and then looked around the place, to see if there were any clues.
Within five minutes they found the answer........
The Police Findings
A man has been taken into custody.
Last year he was accused of murdering his wife, but the jury did not convict him.
He called the police because his son had disappeared.
When the police got to the apartment they interviewed him
On checking the apartment they found the body of a seven-year-old boy. He was in the wardrobe in a bin liner. Initial indications are that he was drowned in the bath and his father had intended to dispose of the body.
The events had disappeared from the mind of the father.
He will be assessed for various mental issues, but this is an open and shut case.
