Burnt and torn clothing, a mangled rusted tricycle, a person’s shadow burnt into concrete, a broken watch displaying 8:15. Now the young couple stood before a shattered, domed building propped up on a modern steel skeleton.

Over the humid summer scream of a thousand giant Asian cicadas they yelled to be heard in this oh so beautiful place.

“It had to be done.” She would rather have whispered it.

He looked at the nearby T-shaped road bridge. He could no longer be so sure.

    Roy, this is heart breaking and beautiful! You paint such a vivid picture, I'm not totally familiar with this event in time. (History is really not my thing) But after a quick google I think I understand it better, you did this event justice! Well done!
