The only one that got away

In A small town in the countryside Jane and Mark have been best friends since they were kids. They grew up together in a small town and went to the same schools. As they got older, they started to realize that they had feelings for each other, but they were never able to act on them. Mark was dating someone else, and Jane was too afraid to tell him how she felt.

Years went by, and they both moved away to different cities. They stayed in touch, but their conversations were always friendly and platonic. One day, Jane got a call from Mark. He was going to be in town for a few days and wanted to catch up. She agreed, and they made plans to meet for dinner

When they saw each other again, it was like no time had passed. They talked and laughed like they used to, and Jane felt that old spark of attraction. After dinner, they went for a walk in the park and sat on a bench overlooking the lake. Mark took her hand, and Jane felt her heart skip a beat.
