In A small town in the countryside Jane and Mark have been best friends since they were kids. They grew up together in a small town and went to the same schools. As they got older, they started to realize that they had feelings for each other, but they were never able to act on them. Mark was dating someone else, and Jane was too afraid to tell him how she felt.

Years went by, and they both moved away to different cities. They stayed in touch, but their conversations were always friendly and platonic. One day, Jane got a call from Mark. He was going to be in town for a few days and wanted to catch up. She agreed, and they made plans to meet for dinner

When they saw each other again, it was like no time had passed. They talked and laughed like they used to, and Jane felt that old spark of attraction. After dinner, they went for a walk in the park and sat on a bench overlooking the lake. Mark took her hand, and Jane felt her heart skip a beat. He told her that he had always loved her, but he never knew how to tell her. She told him that she felt the same way, but it was too late. They both had their own lives now, and they couldn't be together. They hugged each other goodbye, and Jane watched Mark walk away. She knew that he was the one that got away, but she also knew that he would always hold a special place in her heart

As Jane watched Mark walk away, she felt a lump in her throat. She knew that she would always love him, but she also knew that it was time to move on. She went back to her apartment and cried herself to sleep that night.

The next day, she woke up feeling a little better. She decided to take a walk to clear her head. As she walked, she thought about all the memories she had with Mark. She remembered the time they went to the county fair together and won a goldfish, the time they snuck out of their houses to watch the stars, and the time they got lost in the woods and had to find their way back home.

She realized that even though they couldn't be together, she was grateful for the time they had spent together. She felt lucky to have had such a wonderful friend and to have experienced the kind of love that only comes once in a lifetime.

Years went by, and Jane moved on. She got married, had kids, and built a successful career. But she never forgot about Mark. Every once in a while, she would think about him and wonder what could have been.

Then, one day, she got a call from Mark. He was going to be in town again, and he wanted to see her. She agreed, and they met for lunch. As they talked, she realized that she still loved him. She knew that they couldn't be together, but she was grateful for the chance to see him again.

After lunch, they hugged each other goodbye, and Jane watched Mark walk away again. But this time, she didn't feel sad. She felt happy that she had seen him again and that they had been able to catch up. She knew that he would always have a special place in her heart, but she also knew that it was time to let him go.
