The Kingdom

Once upon a time there is was a kingdom named “The Human Body” ruled by one of the most important organs in the world, The Brain. But this story isn’t about the brain, but about some other organ, respected by everyone, but in the same time feared by everyone.

In that kingdom were a lot of organs, and every one of them was important in their own way, but every time when something bad happened to them they were imprisoned for rehabilitation.

Our main character was imprisoned the most, maybe that is why everyone was so scared of it. Because, compared with others, every time he went to the prison he came back stronger, not weaker. He never complained, never talked back to the guards and he never said anything bad about what happened. He was always taking the blame for everything, saying that next time he will be more careful not to happen again, but this happened always in the same way.

The most well known organs in that prison were, Mr. Liver, The Kidney brothers and our hero, The Heart.

Mr. Liver was a regular there, full of alcohol or drugs, fast food or some other problems, but he had this weird and impossible to understand ability to regenerate every time, so basically for him, going there was just a formality.

The Kidney Brothers, were the most hated from there, because they were always fighting each other and blamed one another for everything that is happening. Everyone hated them and told them they have family issues and should consult a psychologist for this problem, but they never listened to anyone and continued to do the same stupid mistakes.

But now let’s go to our hero, our favorite character of the story. This guy, named Heart, was not that big, not that scary, in fact, but he was really strange. He believed, every time that things can change in a good way. So, when someone hurt him, he would suffer a lot, for some time. He won’t have hope, he will want to die, he will cry himself out, but after a while, suddenly he will have a change of heart and will smile again. Coming out even stronger than before. He would smile to everyone, telling them nothing really happened, that it wasn’t a big deal and that he will be okay. No one knew that inside he was dying a little more every time this happened. Not even The Brain could understand his behavior, and he was one of the most logical and intelligent organ of the kingdom. He never understood how after so many times of being hurt your could still be happy and joyful and enjoy everything around you. How can you not show any pain anymore, how can you pass so easily over.

But what no one ever anticipated was the end of all this game and theater. No one could see that Heart was actually fooling everyone with his behavior. No one knew how much he cried at night and how much he prayed that one day he would stop beating, but he knew this would be impossible, without him not even The Brain would be able to survive. He had a mission and a very important role in this Kingdom, so he must stay alive for everyone. But how, in what way, no one knew… That he will change one-day… Suddenly… In the most cold and heartless organ ever.

No one liked it, but they accepted. Because they wanted to have their own Heart around them and because they saw he didn’t want to abandon them either, so somehow he was fighting for it. But since that day, no one saw Heart smiling again, being happy or joyful. He was just there, cold, alone pumping blood to keep them alive. He didn’t have any feelings, for anyone or anything.

So, even if Heart was the most important and one of the organs who used to never give up, he renounced to all of that suddenly and forever.

Heart wasn’t stupid, but he just wanted a better world, he wanted to have the hope that The Brain never had, the joy that you could never see at Mr. Liver, because he was too full of himself, or at the Kidney Brothers because they were too preoccupied to fight to each other all the time. The Bone and Muscle army were too strong to understand this and Stomach never cared about anyone but himself and the food. So Heart was the only one keeping them together making them to see the beautiful in the world. But now, even he gave up to that…

Heart was more than just muscles and blood, was full of feelings… Those who can kill you… Or keep you alive… You choose!
