Two girls were hiking when they got lost in the woods and they stumbled upon a children’s camp. They asked if they could spend the night and find their way back to their campsite in the morning. The camp counselors informed them that all of the cabins were taken but they could camp out by the campfire. This was when one of the girls noticed a cabin sitting atop a small hill. It looked empty and she inquired why they couldn’t spend the night there. The counselors all responded with dread. It was a very evil and haunted cabin and was kept locked up and empty. They explained that none of the children would go near it and late at night they could hear noises from there and even see spooky lights. As far as they knew that cabin had been sitting there and empty when the camp was first established. Supposedly no one wanted to knock it down for fear that the camp would be cursed.

The girls smiled at one another. They didn’t believe in such nonsense and inquired if the counselors had a key to the cabin. They replied that no one had ever seen the key and it was just common knowledge that this cabin was to be left alone. Well, that didn’t stop the girls they marched right up to that cabin to have a peek into the windows. Everyone was very surprised when the girls discovered that the door to the cabin was open. It was as if the cabin was inviting them in. The counselors refused to look inside and warned the girls that they were on their own. That evening the girls had dinner with everyone and retired to the cabin. The counselors provided them with lanterns as this cabin had no electricity.

The girls fixed up two cots and lay down beside one another and went to sleep. Late that night one of the counselors noticed that there was a light on up at the cabin and decided that the girls kept a lantern glowing because they were in strange surroundings. However, this light didn’t look yellow as if coming from a lantern, but it looked blue. The counselor mentioned it to the others but no one wanted to check it out. Sometime during the night one of the girls heard a strange humming that went, “Hmm, hmm, hmm”. She reached over and shook her friend’s bed and said, “Stop that humming I’m trying to sleep” but the humming continued the same way pausing every few seconds.

Finally, she groped around in the dark and found a box of matches flicked one, and lit the lantern. The cabin glowed in yellow light. At first sleepy and confused she looked over to the next cot and saw that her friend had her blanket over her head. Again “Hmm, hmm, hmm”. Before she could get up from her cot she heard a creaking noise as well. Somewhere in the dark shadows in the middle of the cabin creak, creak, creak, “Hmm, hmm, hmm”. She was beginning to get gooseflesh and got up and reached over to pull the blanket from her friend to wake her up to see if she heard this as well. When she yanked the blanket off she discovered her friend’s body with no head. In terror and frozen in fear she grabbed the lantern and held it up to illuminate the entire cabin. There in the middle of the cabin sat an old, gnarled woman in a rocking chair which creaked with each move. In her lap was her girlfriend’s head and each time she pulled out a hair she hummed, “Hmm, hmm, hmm". That was when the girl began to scream.
