*

Ella knew straightaway that something was different. She was fully back in the chair, shackled. Her mind was still fragmented with the Disruption but something was altered.

*

The Master grasped Jason's shoulder but there was nothing there. The shape of him was contained in his clothes but there was no substance, no flesh. What strangeness was this?

*

Moments before the Master arrived, Jason looked hard at the photo on the phone. Bright green eyes...bright green eyes....there was something there...and it hit him, an epiphany like no other! Fuck! Ella was Catwoman! How could he have not seen it before?

*

Ella flexed her fingers.

Light.

Previously, on fully returning to the chair, she had felt stiff, encumbered, like her life was lead, her energy used in transmitting herself outwards, playing the Game. It was all a show, designed to provide hope where there was none, designed to suggest that with her powers she could just gain freedom but she knew it was a test. A test that would entertain until it ended.

She had never felt like this on a return.

Her heart began to beat faster and her blood rushed with a sensation that she had long since considered departed: optimism.

Her mind scrambled.

What were the possible scenarios?

1. Something had happened to the Disruptors. Maybe.

2. Something had happened to Him? No. Too soon.

3. Malcolm?

4. Jason. Something had happened with Jason.

*

The Master did not know what to do. There was no "other" to capture. There were his things and there were his clothes but no person. And yet, he had seen him, animated, as a real person, on surveillance, at the station. Was this a trick? A product of Ella's evolution?

The cold hand of dread inched its way steadily over his brow to release small rivulets of sweat into the lines of anxiety that each day deepened in direct correlation with the pressure of the situation in which he found himself.

How would he explain this to Him?

*

Following the drone footage, He already knew. And he was livid.

*

Ella heard the fracas.

Behind the glass.

And then something else.

A timid voice:

"Catwoman?"

So, the moment has finally come where Ella and Jason can communicate. Where do we go next?
