The Bag
A Blessing or a Curse?
Tripped! I lay in the dirt cursing. My morning run ruined. A shoulder strap snaked across the path. I grabbed and pulled. A leather bag emerged from the underbrush. I picked it up, fully intending to drop it into the next garbage bin.
Home again, where I realized I was still carrying it. I unzipped it and dumped it onto my kitchen table. Banded packets of hundred dollar bills tumbled out.
Now someone is knocking on my door. I stare in horror. Wondering who is on the other side. Wondering if it is safe to open.

The Abduction
I heard the baby crying as soon as I stepped through the doorway of the plane. “Oh no,” I thought. “Just what I need. A fussy baby for the next eight hours.” My head was already pounding with the stress of having to get on a plane, as well as the lack of good night’s sleep, due to worrying about it. And now this. Some start to what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation.

Doing it for the troops
The others dropped like flies around me. We fought and struggled to get to this point. I'm the only one left now. The objective is right there. A mere two hundred feet away. The last of my team got a bullet to the head right next to me, but I couldn't do anything. I was able to locate and neutralise the sniper as he shot my friend, so his death was at least not in vain.
