The Backrooms Decrypted: The Field of Wheat (Level 10)

The Field Of Wheat is another name for The Backrooms Level 10. It is classified as having CLASS 1 survival difficulty. It is SAFE and SECURE. It has a MINIMUM COUNT OF ENTITIES. In Level 10, there is a wheat field that seems to go on forever. Additionally, there is a significant unpaved dirt path that runs north and south. Use and consumption of the wheat growing in the fields are safe. The wheat fields are covered in pockets of sweet-tasting almond water. Level 10 is generally in the middle of the day. It's very cloudy outside, and it might rain occasionally. Although it happens very infrequently, some buildings do have a chance of spawning entities. These Entities include hostile Facelings as well as Smilers, Skin-Stealers, Death Rats, and Hounds. Wranglers have reportedly been discovered below Level 10's surface. Camouflage crawlers have also been mentioned in reports.

The Backroooms: The Field of Wheat (Level 10)
  • Your sneakers are crunching on the ground. Now that you've left the gloomy suburbs behind, they seem like such a distant memory. Your skin feels delicately caressed by the cool mist that hangs in the air. You are, after all, in the middle of a sizable wheat field, but it is nearly impossible to see further than that due to the curtain of far-off fog. It's a strange but serene place.
  • Here, you feel so comfortable. You entertain the notion for a brief moment that perhaps this location is heaven. Welcome, Explorer, to Level 10. Maybe you weren't such a waste of space after all, right? You stoop to your knees as days of fatigue suddenly catch up with you like a powerful cosmic blow. You don't mind that you have dirt on your hands and slacks right now. In fact, you like how natural it is.
  • You simply squeeze as you take two handfuls of dirt, feeling the extra mud spool out from between your fingers. In a metaphorical sense, at least, since this is not the earth, it is the closest you have ever felt to the earth. A great shape appears out of the mist just at the right moment to remind you of this, lumbering right toward you. Of course, a rush of fear is your first reaction. In this place, almost everything you've come across so far has sought to kill you or worse.
  • But as the large, nearly spherical blob-like creature comes into focus, it gives off the impression that it is a submissive beast. That it won't hurt you. From your position in the mud, you calmly observe the strange creature. Its movements feel oddly graceful despite its size. As if there was no real significance to it. The humans who have traveled through here refer to this creature as a gluff, even though you have no reason to know its name. It is not alone either, as is true of most docile creatures.
    • More gluffs appear trundling out of the mist, possibly demonstrating herd behaviors. Unlike most creatures in the backrooms, whose preferred cuisine is I'll check my notes right here in a moment. I see you. These Gluffs are happy to simply graze on the wheat that is abundant here on Level 10. The Gluffs steal delicious, sweet almond water that is safe to drink and collect it in pockets all over the field in exchange for what they take, giving something truly wonderful in return.
  • As you choose to stand and explore more of the field, you even make use of one of these. This area has a strange emptiness. There are stables with hay and horseshoes, but no animals to ride in them. You come across old farmhouses that are in disrepair and are rotting from the perpetual damp of the mist. There are no indications of what you assume must have once been a human habitation.
  • It's possible that this location was livelier at one point, but something must have changed that. You can't get rid of that odd, lingering aura of death that permeates everything you see. You take a sip from a pocket of Almond Water that a gluffer had left in the ground. You feel revitalized right away. Your body suddenly becomes more energized. You get up once more; feeling revitalized and prepared to take on this level. Now that you have the memory, you are a fighter rather than just a survivor.
  • You look at the many adorable but inhuman residents of New Sodbury as you stroll around the town. With a sense of innocent wonder, refer to themselves as "The Soddies." Instead of laughing because you know it would be impolite and patronizing, you simply smile. The backrooms can be a dangerous and even hellish place at times. Be truly extraordinary as well. However, when you see the following level, we'll see if you still believe that. As we continue to explore the backrooms in greater detail, be sure to stay tuned. Longer still in this liminal abyss?
