That B*tch
Thursday 10th July, Day/Story #49
So pleased I get to see his fancy new flat at last! I'm so proud of him, I really am. I mean, what mother isn't proud of her boy? Maybe all mums say this, but mine really is special. He's a good looking lad with a square jaw. I'm surprised he never brought a lot of girls home, because they do love him. And he's smart, too. Clever as the day is long. It's so lovely that he's got this flat share with another young man his own age. Now I will admit I was sceptical at first. You can't be too careful these days, right? I finally had the chance to meet the other young man, and he seems perfectly nice. I feel a bit bad having judged him so poorly without ever having met him. He was so lovely. I could tell right off, as soon as I arrived. I pride myself on being a very good judge of character. And he was just so polite! So respectful. Can I take your coat, will you take tea, all of that. Oh, he couldn't do enough for me. Of course I was really there to visit my son, but this seemed like a good time to get to know the person he be was living with. He told me "His Lordship is in his room." He said this with a little eye roll and a shrug. He's said, "You know what he's like." Well, actually, yes I do. And it's true, my boy does get taken by funny moods occasionally. Just wants to be by himself. Shuts himself away. Or goes off on his own for a while.
We sat and had tea while we waited for "his lordship" to finally emerge. I felt ever so terrible for suggesting he might have been an axe murderer. I didn't even like to mention that the tea tasted a little bit funny. Poor lad, seems a bit awkward. I'll bet he doesn't have guests often. I felt a bit off, truth be told, and I asked if I could use the powder room. Standing was a bit of a trial, actually, but I had this thought in my mind that such a solicitous gentleman wouldn't let a lady topple to the floor, would he? Black claimed my vision, like I was looking down the wrong end of a telescope, and I heard the crash and thump as if from along way away. +
