Another micro-fiction just because they're fun
She buries her trembling body against a dark wall, hoping the creature hasn’t seen her. Through shadowy hues, she finds her children hanging precariously in another corner.
Paralysis isn’t an option.
Black and white floor tiles move in frenzied rhythm as the monster presses its ten deformed limbs across their surfaces.
Her kids squirm against the hypnotic chaos.
Now or never.
Adrenaline forces the hydraulic extension of her legs, and she aims a spinneret, shooting a silky tendril towards the egg sac.
The creature's limb finds her hiding spot just as she swings.

In a few seconds, this room would fill with twenty-five hyperactive, hormone-driven teenagers, who had no interest in anything I might try to teach them. Bad enough to be a “regular” Middle School science teacher, but as a substitute teacher, I felt like I walked in the door with a target on my back. Why would anyone want to be a substitute teacher? I wondered. For me, at least it wasn’t a life sentence. I was here for one reason, and hopefully for only one day.

They impress us, and sometimes they scare us, but the ultra-rich are always interesting. Some of their famous activities include buying yachts too big to move through channels, buying ridiculously priced cars that could feed the homeless of New York for weeks, and their expensive tastes in sex workers.
