Short Story
Lights
The little valley was never busy. A few houses here and there, little to no traffic. At night, the road was even more deserted. A few lights shined from the houses hidden among the higher elevations. They peeked through the trees like twinkling stars, but it was still enough to show signs of population. A creek trickled alongside the road. The wind rustled the leaves on the trees and Joan wished he'd remembered to bring his coat. All in all, he supposed, this was the last place anyone would think to look for the northern lights. But with a late warning and little time, it was the best he could settle for.

Unreal Connections
At ten-thirty, the sun was still faint in the morning of January winter like a pale moon in the middle of an ocean of clouds. I was brushing my teeth. I gazed at my reflection in the mirror, I was in my school uniform with a school bag on my shoulder.

The Backward River . AI-Generated.
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. No one in the kingdom of Lysithia could explain it. The Everstream, the lifeblood of the land, had flowed westward for centuries, weaving through verdant meadows, feeding the mighty forests, and nourishing the glittering city of Elowen. But at dawn, the waters began to churn violently before reversing course, rushing upstream as though fleeing some unseen terror.

A Local Pub (For Local People)
The regulars didn't use that toilet. Sometimes, a newcomer would come in. Conversations pause. Every eye drilled into the hapless patron, skewered on all sides by those sharp gazes, frozen like a rabbit in headlights. Glancing left and right, wondering if this was a mistake. This place was too local.
