A mystery of the night sky
Chapter 1: No one can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. My grandmother repeated this phrase to me many times and throughout my life I believed in the truth of this statement. I never looked up at the sky, never wondered what was beyond what I could see, or even imagined if there was anyone beyond us, because even if there was, who could hear it?

Savage Heavens
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Whether it’s true or not matters little though. Watching from the cockpit of your fighter while one of your squad mates, your friend, screams into the void as they drift silently to their icy demise is haunting enough without that knowledge.

Protocol Adam and Eve
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. The people I could see from the small window in the mechanic bay definitely looked like they were screaming. They drifted away from the wreckage of the shuttle, all partially in their suits. Some were even holding their helmets.

Survival
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. The way pillowed lips part and ache to erupt a noise is dire, a noise wanting to leave the body. A white suit encapsulated his being, heavy-set eyes watching the vast nothingness do exactly that nothing. Oceans of black all around and stars don t seem like small dots in the sky anymore. He could make a shape out of the darkness. faces of his loved ones emerging and whispering a non-existent. "I love you"

Purple Planet
“Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say”. This annoyingly common joke among the astronauts I was forced to work with was, in fact, problematic for several reasons. Just to reenforce my reputation and keep anyone from getting friendly with me, I liked to remind anyone who said this that space isn’t technically a vacuum. It’s almost a vacuum. Of course, this is also vaguely deceptive, and if this comment didn’t immediately shut down any attempt to socialize with me, I was happy to go into detail about how space is mostly void of matter, meaning that a particular point in space could be considered a vacuum, and that any said point would immediately no longer be a vacuum if you were to enter it and listen for screams.

Before the Darkness Comes
Chapter 1: Not Knowing Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. I can see these words written on the blackboard at my school, just as if I was still sitting there listening to my teacher drone on and on. These words begin to reverberate in my mind as I watch my ship, now engulfed in flames, drifting further and further away. The broken pieces floating away from the ship gave way to stars glimmering in the distant background. As my body rotated while floating away, my eyes fell to the orange and blue world that appeared to be slowly moving toward me.
