The Messages From Tomorrow Part 2
The knock came exactly three times. Not two. Not four. Three slow knocks. Then silence. The student remained frozen in the darkness of his apartment, staring toward the front door while the storm continued raging outside. Only a few minutes had passed since the strange phone call ended, but it felt as though hours had gone by. Across the street, emergency vehicles still surrounded the damaged building where the explosion had occurred. Their flashing lights painted moving shadows across his walls, making the room feel even more unsettling.

Black Velvet
Angels Peak had a pristine reputation until the autumn of 1894. The town was a beautiful place lodged safely away in the Northern California mountains. The trees were changing colors, being swallowed by rich hues of autumn fire and the wind carried a crisp chill that happily greeted residents along the tree lined streets.

Vanished
Clouds rolled in beneath a massive star-filled sky. Below, the world was shielded from the abyss of glimmering lights as the streetlights brightened, porch lights came on, and traffic slowed to a crawl. On the corner of town, a playoff game was ending. The high school was invigorating its local fans, and the opposing team was about to go home dejected. Friday night in the middle of the world was going exactly the way the kids had planned.

The Messages From Tomorrow Part 1
The message arrived at exactly 2:17 AM. Not 2:16. Not 2:18. Exactly 2:17. Rain hammered against the apartment windows while the city slept beneath a blanket of darkness. The storm had been growing stronger for hours, and every few minutes lightning flashed across the sky, briefly illuminating the rows of apartment buildings that stretched across the city. Most people were asleep. The streets below were almost empty except for a few cars moving through the rain. It was the kind of night that felt ordinary and forgettable.

SHE WAS CHECKING ME OUT
SHE WAS CHECKING ME OUT Did I pass her scrutiny? ** “Work’s done. Let’s go! Do you have time for a quick beer before heading home?” That was Debbie. Whenever we had a difficult day at work, she wanted that one beer to unwind before going home. I rarely argued since our boss had more bad days than good and I had two sons who didn’t need to see the mood I’d developed at work.

Two People Connected Through a Magical Book
The Book Hidden on the Highest Shelf On a cold November afternoon, Olivia Hart wandered into an old bookstore she had never noticed before. The narrow building stood between two modern shops, its faded wooden sign barely visible beneath layers of ivy. She had no particular reason for entering. In truth, she was simply trying to escape the rain. The store smelled of old paper and dust, and its shelves stretched from floor to ceiling. As she browsed through forgotten novels and worn journals, her attention was drawn to a thick leather-bound book resting on the highest shelf in the corner. The cover was dark blue and strangely warm to the touch. There was no title. No author's name. Only a single sentence engraved in silver letters: For the one who needs to be heard. Curious, Olivia opened the book and discovered that every page was blank except the first. Written in elegant handwriting were the words, If you can read this, then the book has chosen you.
