THE UNEXPECTED PATH OF LOVE
Amelia had always known what she wanted from life. She was independent, career-focused, and possessed a fierce determination to avoid the life of a pastor's wife. Growing up, she saw her friends’ mothers juggling the expectations of their congregations, sacrificing privacy, and becoming the center of church gossip. The idea of living under constant scrutiny never appealed to her. So, every time a pastor showed interest, she made her boundaries clear, rejecting each proposal without hesitation.

Whispers of the Wind
Pranav had always been a dreamer, his imagination carrying him far beyond the bustling streets of his city, where tall buildings loomed like giants and time raced ahead with relentless speed. The world around him felt suffocating; his heart longed for adventure, for the kind of love that transcended the ordinary. It was on one of those restless nights, with the moon painting silver streaks across his bedroom wall, that he stumbled upon an old, leather-bound journal hidden beneath the floorboards of his attic.

The Final Clue
Pranav adjusted his glasses as he gazed around the dimly lit Rajan Library, its vast shelves stacked with old, leather-bound books. The only sound was the ticking of the large grandfather clock in the corner, echoing through the empty room. Eleanor Rajan, the eccentric heiress to a family fortune, had vanished without a trace. A reclusive woman, she’d been known more for her rare book collection than her social circles. Now, only a cryptic note remained: “Find the final clue.”

River's Dirge
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. Avalyn, queen of Vyren, daughter of the river, was missing. A naiad of breathtaking beauty, she was the first and only love of the beloved King Alric, and as such was tolerated for his sake. The crown on her head was a point of raging jealousy for the noblewomen, and to make matters worse, she’d borne not one, but two heirs, infusing ancient, river-spirit blood into the line of Vyrean royals. Her disappearance had been discovered only that morning, but the wagging tongues of the court had already fanned the gossip into an insidious fire.

The Dying Source. Top Story - October 2024.
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. Instead of the crystal clearness that flowed through the land for thousands of years, the water was now so murky, you couldn't see the rocky bottom, much less an inch into it. The trees were withering away, turning the branches into daggers to stab at the darkening sky. Skeletal creatures roamed about, snarling, hungry and ready to pounce on anything. Veins of power, all coming from a single spot, once an illuminating golden, were now gray. Thick fog blanketed the nightmarish landscape, more smothering than comforting.

The Halloween Leprechaun
I remember the day I met Charles, he was short and fat and dressed all in orange and black. He was a leprechaun, believe it or not. He only came out on Halloween. In Enon Ohio is where this li"le guy resides. I invited him in, for a candy apple; he looked so kind. He had a twinkle in his eye and shiny buckles, gold I think, on his shoes. ‘’I just made some fresh candy apples,’’ I said, ‘’would you like to give one a try?’’‘’I’d be delighted,’’ the li"le guy gave a quick nod.‘’Come on in,’’ I said. The leprechaun followed me into the kitchen and then he did something, no one could believe. He ate the whole thing, stem in all. In one monstrous bite. ‘’Wow,’’ I exclaimed. ‘’I never saw that before!’’‘’I bet you haven’t,’’ the cri"er replied. ‘’I’m a leprechaun and you’re merely a human.’’The creature proceeded to fart and I used the inside of my t shirt as a mask. I raced to the window, with my eyes burning and opened every window in the house. ‘’It smells like cheese, pastrami and red wine.’’‘’I only drink whiskey, my boy and I only eat spoiled meat.’’My stomach churned. ‘’I hate to be rude,’’ I lied. ‘’But I think maybe you ought to leave.’’The leprechaun looked at me and shook his head. ‘’I think you’re wrong there, my boy,’’ the leprechaun retorted. I like your house, I think I’ll live here forever.’’‘’We’ll see about that,’’ I replied.

Night Ride
She cackled as she flew by the white moon; a child squirming in the burlap sack was flung over her shoulder. She knew it was her night, the night of Samhain, Halloween. Ghosts peeled back the thin veil separating the living and the dead. The witch’s sisters danced barefoot and naked in the forest. A pagan demon played the flute; he was serenading the wicked beauties. Music sliced through the night. Birds circled Ravens gathered, amassing quite the murder. Demons and ghosts massaged their erogenous zones. Males or females, it did not matter. Sex was sex to a bride of Satan. All witches were brides of Satan.
