The Orb
I am a prince embarking on a long journey home from battle. It is a cold, dark early morning and I am traveling north on a path through the forest. I am alone and cold and still have a long way to go. My muscles ache and my feet are sore, but I continue on the dark and lonely path.

The Highway
A long journey traveling home in my car. I am on a desolant two lane highway for a long stretch. In the distance I can see a silhouette of a figure standing on the side of the road. As I approached it, I could tell that it was an old man. I haven't seen another vehicle for miles and I grew concerned for the old man. Is he lost or disoriented, wandering in the middle of nowhere? I thought to myself.

Of Fire and Tide
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. The Lanterna mountains imploded, crashing into the ground - leaving behind only craters of soil and rock. Now devoid of sun, the flora and fauna that had once sustained the land wilted into nothing. The villagers began to starve. Many packed their belongings and moved onwards to more fruitful plains. Some died on the journey, others were lost to the harshness of the winter. Those that survived took root again but would wistfully remember the place that had been home. They would talk of the majestic Karianarga tree that would flower under the touch of the morning sun, leaving parcels of handtied food – succulent salifir meat, sweet mead cake and bottles of candied dew.

The river ran backward on the day the Queen vanished.
The river ran backward on the day the Queen vanished. It was not a small thing, the river running backward. In a land where magic still lingered like smoke from a long-extinguished fire, it was a warning. A sign. The old folk had whispered of such events in the dark corners of taverns and the warmth of hearths—of strange portents that heralded great changes, though none had ever truly believed them. Not until that morning.

The Living Statues of Orthavos. Top Story - November 2024.
"The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished," A soft melodious voice spoke quietly, as the sound of footsteps and water dripping echoed around the darkness in which the group was walking. The sting of ocean salt had stung their eyes as they went deeper into the cavern that they had taken a small boat to, off the coastal cliffs to the kingdom of Arataur.

Queens of Sorrow & Shadow
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. The dawn sky tore asunder, revealing violet lightning piercing through a gathering dark. The light of dawn was snuffed out by spiraling clouds, and the land around the city of Allure quaked and shook with a violence that toppled brick towers and crumbled tavern walls. Parts of the city that used to be upriver now became victims of a hundred year flood in the wake of the waterway's sudden reversal, carrying away people, houses and livestock.
