The Descendants of Arn
“There weren’t always Dragons in the Valley. Jo, it is time. You must tell them.” Indira paced the hallway while her sister put the kettle on the stove. Her sleeves swished loudly at her sides as she pumped her arms. This was too distracting. She twisted the ring on her right ring finger nervously. It was an heirloom from her mother—a large sapphire inlayed in silver with enchantments placed on it by its previous owner and her sisters. Protection is always the first step in using magic. Her mother had been protecting Indira and her siblings from whatever the world was going to throw at them well before they knew anything of magic. The weight of the ring stuck out particularly this day. Indira stopped in the doorway to check the progress of the kettle.

The Unexpected Bulwark
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Drawn by both water and power, the creatures found the site irresistible. Fiery molten fragments of jagged glass rained down on the desperate souls swimming with dread towards the center of the lake that inhabited the valley. Leathery demons were making a sport of circling the sandy banks of the water with a wall of fire that caused an unrelenting debris storm.

Dragonscouts, Chapter 1

Nhildreer
1 Nhildreer There weren’t always dragons in the valley. In fact yesterday there hadn’t been. Nhildreer, son of the creator, Nhildrou, sneered at the beasts below him, milling about with their newly created limbs. Fights were already breaking out, pecking orders established, and… personalities developed. These new creations were smart, even with being the ugly things they were, with even uglier hearts. There were rumors that his father was even going to create some with the power over fire. There was, he realized, something familiar about them he could not place, but instinctively hated.

A Study of Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. They had flourished for several millennium on this green and fertile area of the island nation Waekshere. Suddenly and mysteriously, over the last few decades, they slowly dwindled out. Or at least the sightings of them by any public accounts had. This made the continued study of this phenomenon a fertile ground for xenologists- but surprisingly only one of these researchers ever took up this challenge. That is why a local scholar and his hired band of dwarven mercenaries found themselves inside the entrance to an dusty aeolian calcarente limestone cave so late in the waning day.

Moon Palace
There weren't always dragons in the valley. Yegaria, the fool, brought the first with her centuries ago in the annual migration to Thalia, the name of our Earth and home of our ancestors. The dragon was too young to stay in their land, but she should’ve left the beast to withstand the trials of life. If it were strong enough, it would’ve thrived and if not, died and returned to Thalia as we all do. But no, she had to intervene, and now we’re the ones having to suffer and endure the blight of darkness that has descended upon our lands.
