Romulus and Nero
Chapter 1 A pitch black blur plummeted through the overcast skies above the great forest, Daedalum, parting great, grey clouds in explosive fashion. The sound of the sonic booms above sent swarms of birds, rodents and other small fauna scurrying furiously in every direction. They could not see the skies above for the trees were large; the forest vast and labyrinthine. They could not see what was coming, but they knew that they must run. The obsidian mass suddenly opened up, unfurling its massive wings, decelerating rapidly before crashing through the dense branches and hitting the ground with great speed. A thunderous crash split the ominous silence of the forest, before falling deathly silent once again. A nameless black dragon lay in the crater he had just formed, golden ichor painting the ground beneath him and congealing at numerous gashes scattered along the length of his body. He did not move, or rather he couldn’t. Suddenly he heard rumbling as the forest came alive, entire trees shifting to block out the light shining through the hole he had just created, dimming the forest to almost darkness. He exhaled the breath he had only just realised was held in since before he hit the ground and unable to keep his eyes open and his mind awake any longer he allowed himself to slip away.

Fool Proof
The vibrant green forest was quiet. Too quiet for an Anoxiver morning when life was supposed to be in renewal, and quieter than it was yesterday. Éimhím trudged onwards, unsettled. His pastel, deep lime green scales with their rich pink undertones, bristled. It shouldn’t have been so quiet, especially not during the yearly two-week eclipse. He had gone years and years seeing it all over the world, and it was never this quiet even in the calmest of places, let alone here, the most dangerous region during the lightlessness.

The Chronicles of Terramyr
The Black Keep towers into the cerulean sky, casting an oppressive shadow over the surrounding landscape. High above the townsfolk in Castletown village below, surrounded by black pointed spires, obsidian-sculpted archways, and a twisting maze of dark corridors, King Hothgar Tassedothe, followed by a retinue of men, slowly ascends the steps of a narrow walkway upwards toward the dark dome-shaped structure of the Imperial Council chamber.

Amensalism
I hear you asking for a tale, but what you really need is a lesson. Now, don’t you try to play dumb, young one. Madam Sinclair sees all, and aye, that includes you. I’ve seen you and your merry band of rogues frolicking out there in them woods, taking advantage of your beleaguered mother and her poor tired eyes that are kept so doggedly set on her waning craft. You’ll worry her out of a livelihood if you keep on that way, and what’ll you do for food when her spiralling fires have no crowd’s worries nor wallets to lighten? Will you find salvation in your infernal forest then? Hmmmm? I think not; there’s nothing in there but stubbed toes and hefty woes for you.

The Boy Fought the Dragon and the Dragon Won
Some of my fondest memories were reading stories to my son, Max, before bed. He loved all things Fantasy, noble knights, wise wizards, and epic battles, but of all the stories, tales about dragons were his favourite. Dragons rule, after all. The stories always seemed to revolve around a boy meeting a dragon and forming a fast and lasting friendship. He’d always wanted to meet his own dragon, someday.

A Readers Dream
Alyssa pulled the car up to the terminal pick up area. She spotted her dad on a double take, this was not the man she knew. His once dark hair had turned to gray, his weight much less then what she recalled. He looked as if he had been ill. She waved from the driver window, his searching eyes spotted her and he came her way. Alyssa braced herself, she didn’t know what to say. She got out and walked to the curb, her eyes downcast. She felt him approaching and looked up, no words were needed. He pulled her into his arms and they both began to sob.
