Fan Fiction prose by: Katlin Moak © All rights reserved 2021 As we were escorted off the grounds, flashing lights and shouting from a swarm of paparazzi enclosed us. There were three huge security guards guiding the way. Evan took my hand into his as we headed towards his private car. “Who’s the girl, Evan? Tell us who the girl is!” The paparazzi were extremely persistent in general but since Evan hasn’t been seen with a woman since his split with, you know who, they were more eager this time around. I’m sure I’ll be waking up with my picture on the front of TMZ tomorrow with some misleading title attached to it. “EVAN PETERS MOVES ON FROM ROBERTS, SEEN WITH NEW LOVE INTEREST!”

CHAPTER TWO Bum...ba dum ba dum🎶…Bum..ba dum ba dum…🎶 it was Jayne’s familiar Sherwood Forest ringtone, every time Jessie heard it she couldn’t stop the Pavlov giggle from erupting. “Hiya Toots, did you get any sleep last night?”

Stumbling down the street, only being able to make out the brightness from the street lights, I feel an unbearable pain in my stomach. Almost like a hunger, but worse. Like a fire started in the pit of my stomach. Every muscle in my body is sore. Every step feels like my last. I know I was attacked, but by who, or what? I finally take the step that my body can not support and I hit the ground. This is it. This is how I die. My breathing switches from auto pilot to manual and my brain is unable to keep up. I close my eyes and prepare myself to enter the next life. I reach for my neck and feel the blood pouring out. There's no way this is real right? Stuff like this doesn't happen to people like me.

My favorite world is always the one without me in it. At least not the me that I am. If I don't align with an actual character in the world I'm reading about, I insert myself as an extra. Someone along for the ride but not interacted with. That part is easy enough because it is how I live my real world life.

One of my absolute favorite fantasy world and story is the Harry Potter world. I believe that the different ways the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is beneficial for young witches and wizards. From classes about the history of magic to Astronomy. These young kids not only learn about their own history and where is comes from, but also ways to defend themselves amongst rivals. If only we could have something similar to nowadays standards and crimes, I believe there would be a decrease in helpless victims. Also, the journey of not only Harry, but also the other main characters like Hermione and Ron. It does give a realistic feel, because of all of the relationships throughout the storyline. The adventure from the beginning to the very end, leaves a watcher with suspense on what is going to happen next. Unless, like me they’ve watched the Harry Potter series about twenty times, then that suspense is gone and left with eagerness for certain moments in the movies. This story is supreme because when someone first watches these series, they never know what to expect in the next movie or even the next ten minutes in the movies. J.K. Rowling knew how to keep her watchers and readers on their toes with suspense. Some people have different opinions that the books are better than the movies, but that is just based on how a person obtains information. Personally, I prefer to watch the movies, because you can physically see the action and the desire between friendships, relationships, and the literal resentment between two or more characters. Yes, J. K. Rowling knew how to express the characters feelings and actions enough that one could vision it, but it is just easier to actually see the conflict. The other part that intrigues me about the Harry Potter series, is that there is still the stereotypical “cliques” throughout the story. And of course, the famous Sorting Hat that looks at your mood and capabilities to determine the wizard or witches Hogwarts house. The different houses define different qualities in a witch or wizard. Gryffindor defines courage, bravery, nerve, and chivalry. Hufflepuff defines those who are patient, loyal, hard-workers, and believe in justice. Ravenclaw defines those who are intelligent, witty, values wisdom and learning. Slytherin values ambition and resourcefulness, and are cunning but are leaders. Just like in today’s society, everyone fits into one of these houses in the real world. In the school’s case, they put the students of the same house in designated headquarters. These headquarters include sleeping arrangements and communal use. Though each house is separated by years, they all manage to get along and help each other. The layout of Hogwarts is extremely similar to a normal high school in the United States, with the classes and how students are separated not only by their year but also their qualities and values. From the beginning of the quizzes for determining what Hogwarts house I personally am, I have always been a Hufflepuff. Even though, one may be in different houses, it does not mean they can’t be friends. There is no limit to who can and can’t be friends. Lastly, in the Harry Potter series, each witch and wizard is allowed a pet ranging from an owl, cat, or toad. These pets or familiars, allow owners access to supernatural abilities from these creatures. What if they could actual do that in the real world? Now that would be amazing and extraordinary. Witches and wizards are connected with their familiars to a whole new extent, a different type of reliability in a creature. In all honesty, I wish J.K. Rowling would continue the Harry Potter series because the amount of excitement and action from her movies, is enough for those who can’t actually go out and be adventurous.

It had been another rather fruitless night in customer service (at least it had been at the "fun" customer service job and it was a weekend). I had clocked out of my shift, visited with some of the girls down at the bars, and gone home (on foot) to a life in my parents' house in the community that I had grown up in. No; NONE of my peers (especially the women who interested ME) were to know who I hung my hat with when I hotfooted it from town to home. They already knew that I was unlicensed and that "work" was two part-time jobs. This WASN'T the life that I had dreamed about...

It’s Fantasy Land In Dreamtime
“Mum, Mum, Muuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm, where are you, it’s time for us to go to bed,” my oldest child yells. Instantly I’m suspicious. What six year old child voluntarily points out it’s his, and his younger four year old brother’s, bedtime? Is he hiding something or is he excited about something happening tomorrow and wants the day to get here quicker? I can’t help but question the very idea of what I just heard my oldest child yelling to me.
