No Escape for the XY. Content Warning.
I don't know anything about boats. It's something my dad is fascinated with, I go with him anyway because maybe I'll learn something. He's very handy, I feel so useless sometimes when I'm with him. How did he and my mom end up together? I have no idea. I see them and I can't help but question my existence but I guess if Dad can meet a woman like Mom, there might be hope for me after all, right?

The Tale of the Curious Caterpillar
Once upon a time in a lush, green forest, there lived a curious little caterpillar named Casey. Unlike the other caterpillars, who were content munching on leaves and resting on branches, Casey had a deep yearning to explore the world beyond the trees. She often gazed up at the birds soaring through the sky, the squirrels leaping from branch to branch, and the bees buzzing from flower to flower. “I wish I could see what they see,” she thought to herself.

Laila's Journey to the Sky".
In a small village, there lived a girl named Laila. Laila was just 15 years old, but her life was very different from the other children her age. While other children ran around and played in the fields, Laila had to stay inside her small room all day. She was sick, and her legs didn’t work as they should. Every day, she would look out of her window and see the blue sky, the trees swaying in the wind, and the birds flying freely. She longed to be outside, to feel the cool breeze on her face, and to walk under the open sky. Laila remembered how she used to play with her friends when she was younger. She would run, jump, and laugh with them. But now, she could only watch from her window. Her heart ached to be outside again. Sometimes, she would close her eyes and imagine herself running in the fields, feeling the grass beneath her feet and the wind in her hair.

Beneath the Serene Waves. Content Warning. AI-Generated.
The moon hung low over the quiet lake, casting a soft glow that made the water look like a shimmering blanket of glass. The old fishing boat creaked with every gentle wave, its faded paint telling stories of better days. Two figures sat across from each other in tense silence, the weight of unspoken words thick in the cool night air.

But little did I know, beneath the charming facade, lay a multitude of dating deal-breakers, waiting to shatter my heart into a million pieces.

The Last Voyage of the Morning Star
The sun was just rising when the Morning Star set sail from the small coastal village of Havenport. Captain Jonah, a grizzled man with salt-and-pepper hair, stood proudly at the helm. His crew, a mix of young men eager for adventure and older sailors seasoned by years at sea, busied themselves with the ropes and sails. Among them was Lily, a young woman with fiery red hair and bright green eyes, the captain’s niece.

The Fishing Trip
This is a story I wrote years ago which was written for a contest so I knew what I had to write about – a house from a photo. Even though this is all fiction I guess my life and my house and garden back in Riga, Latvia were on my mind. As I reread this I am the main character and even though I am many years younger than Harry in this story I too lost my love. We only had about 20 years together but we did have the house and garden. I did not go on a fishing trip when I sold the house but I did return to my homeland the U.S. My faithful companions of course, was my cat Sid.

Gilded Apples; Chapter 6
I'm not grounded, but I certainly can't go. I can't tell Nadia and Celine why I couldn't go though. I suppose I could lie and say I got grounded, but that would also require coming up with a reason why I was grounded. I end up going with the easiest lie I can think of: the dinner party. Nona was coming for the day and some guests would be coming early. Family obligations, blah, blah, blah.
