They woke at 5AM and ran for five miles came home and did, believe it or not, Sunrise Yoga. Breakfast was next and that was when the notification came to pack, say their goodbyes to whomever and head to base for instructions. Beta Team only lived a short way from base to give a sense of normalcy. They arrived ready and mustered in the conference room for mission instructions. Now they listened and waited.

The Message That Was Never Meant for Me
At 2:11 AM, one notification changed everything I believed in. At exactly 2:11 AM, my phone lit up in the dark. I wasn’t supposed to be awake. I had an early morning, and I remember telling myself I needed sleep. But something about the silence of the night felt strange, almost heavy, like the world was holding its breath.

The Message That Was Never Meant to Be Seen

Far North Winter
Snow has fallen continuously for days, and the temperature is in the far extremes that people in the Lower 48 only imagine. Colder than Minnesota and the infamous Chicago wind chills, and colder than I have ever experienced in my entire 29 years living near Denali in Alaska. 12 days straight of heavy snow, dropping about 12 feet, and it’s 36 degrees below zero, and sinking. The two-lane road leading to my cabin is invisible, buried under the deep snow. I used the gas-powered snow blower to keep the porch and door clear of drifts, but the earlier warm-up made me certain the deck was covered in ice beneath the surface. I can’t see out of the windows with the blizzard so heavy, absolutely relentless. I open the door, and a gale spews snow inside; the cold air sucks my breath away.

Silcharri, Guardian of Growth
Silvanus Vestus Bladebreaker was born strong, as all Bladebreaker Charr tended to be. Even as a cub his paws were oversized, his shoulders broad, his voice a gravelly rumble that made the other Charr younglings turn their heads. Blood Legion trainers noticed him early. They always noticed strength. The moment he could lift a practice hammer without toppling over, his childhood ended and his war training began.

Tuesday . Content Warning.
The day began like all days begin, with the sun rising in the east, electric roosters crowing sound bytes in still-dark bedrooms, teeth brushing, coffee brewing, clothes for the day selected. On this specific morning, Lila stretched in her bed, picked up her phone, and saw that it was Tuesday, her day off. She turned the alarm off instead of sliding the snooze bar across her screen and burrowed back into the 600-thread count sheets and basket weave blanket and descended back into her dream.
