Adventure
Liang Diaries
There weren’t always Dragons in the valley. The roofs of our homes were free of their footprints. The night air was devoid of their whispers. And our streets were spared their violent appetites. But over the years they slowly crept back into existence. I’ve lived my entire life with their mysterious presence but I’ve heard the stories of when they were discovered. Uncovered. At first, they were a myth. Like tales of the magic that coursed through the veins of this city. A shadow to represent the city's anxieties and fears. A threat to scare little children off to bed. But eventually, they stepped out of those shadows. Their influence over us grew, as did their ambitions. They are the economy, the government, law enforcement, criminals, and providers. They steal, they give, they hunt, and they survive.

A triangle across the sky
Martha Longthorn sat at the reception desk of the Beconsby Chronicle. She opened a desk drawer and took out a black crystal. She lifted her skirt and held the crystal between her legs. Outside, a few passersby went past on their anonymous business. Then she noticed a man on the opposite side of the street, looking across at the Chronicle office. He wore a beanie hat and a long dark-green jacket. A carrier bag dangled from one hand, whilst the other clasped a walking stick. He started to cross the road towards her. She hurriedly replaced the crystal in the drawer.

The Ember in the Dark
We are the descendants of the old gods, and we carry their magic in our blood. We hold the secrets of humanity in our hearts and the truth in our minds. These messages have been passed down and translated through generations in secret. We were once fiercely respected and listened to. We were once deeply loved, and we were feared and admired. We were advisors, guardians, and defenders to great leaders and the greatest legends. We were the protectors of humanity, and yet we hide from it.

The New History of Dragons
There weren’t always dragons in the valley, I would say there weren’t many dragons in the world since the last war so many years ago, which almost wiped out the humans. The history books made it seem like the dragons, monsters and the unknown areas were the most dangerous things out in the world, but I knew better. Before we begin this tale of mystery, adventure and the shift of a new world’s order I would like to introduce myself. Hi, I’m Genevieve Athens, I’m sixteen years old and I come from a family of merchants and travelers.

Seed of Change
There weren't always dragons in the valley. So it came as a shock when one swooped down over Cal to steal two of his family's prized alpaca . It happened so fast he didn't even register what was going on till the dragon had lifted back off the ground. Cal exhaled in a sigh of defeat, blowing discordant notes through the pipe still placed against his lips, while he watched the dragon glide effortlessly down the mountain side. He could hear the alpacas bleating fade as they soared onward and away. The rest of the flock seemed to be as shocked as himself not having had time to properly digest the terror that should have been coursing through them. They all stared down at the rapidly dwindling mass before turning as one to face him as the sound faded to nothing, clearly wondering what he would do about it.

There weren't always dragons in the Valley.
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. They only started appearing in the last month or so. It seemed as though the more people who disappeared because of moving or dyeing , the more dinosaurs appeared. I hadn’t really paid much attention because we were in the middle of a pandemic and our whole world was turned upside down. Going to school was different because we stayed at home and got our lessons from our teachers on video calls. We ordered our food from the grocery store and had it delivered instead of going into the store to get it. Our friends couldn't come over because we didn't want to spread the disease that was going around. As the restrictions were started to be lifted I began seeing more and more of them. They didn't really bother anybody. The only complaints people had about them was that they are eating food out of our gardens and sitting in the tops of trees at night and singing at the top of their voices. But because of the nuisance they were becoming, the authorities put out a contest on social media. Anyone willing to capture one of these dragons and take a picture standing next to one of these dragons would win the new Sony Play system 5! I had been wanting one of these game systems for forever!

Fledgling prince
Small rays of sunlight pierced through the treetops, illuminating the leafy forest floor. The sounds of birds and insects, created an orchestra of nature that felt like music to the elves ears. A small grin across his face, as he felt the leaves and twigs crumble beneath his bare feet. His brown hair an unruly mess, hanging down by his collar. The wind blew across the tree's causing the branches and leaves to dance and sway; Upon seeing this, the grin grew into a fit of laughter as he decided to join in.
