Taegong: I Will Do Anything, But That!

K-Pop novel

By Chloe GilholyPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Flo Glitz had insisted that they had a meeting every day before the boys began to practice. Both Gong-gi and Taeyang rolled their eyes at each other wishing that the meeting wasn't at six in the morning. That morning wasn't anything out of the ordinary; Taeyang and Gong-gi had coffee and paracetamol for breakfast.

The team went on to praise our success but told Gong-gi that he wasn't working hard enough and because he's the eldest, he needed to work harder to be a good example to Taeyang and the rest of the idols in training.

What stood out to Gong-gi was Flo Glitz's weary eyes and a fistful of receipts. His churning stomach told him she was about to flip. Her tantrums were never pleasant. At times like this, he wondered how his music career would have turned out had he had worked for another music company. After Taegong were finished, he had no desire to work for an ex again.

Flo Glitz tossed the papers in her hand into the trash bin. "To celebrate Gong-gi's divorce, I feel at some point, he must come out as non-binary."

Taeyang gagged on his coffee and coughed. He mimicked Gong-gi's actions with preciseness. It was as if Taeyang was Gong-gi's reflection. She got four albums out of them, and as long as the money was coming, she'll be milking them for what they're worth. Gong-gi knew that the both of them would only be getting a fraction of Flo Glitz's salary.

"No!" Gong-gi banged the table. He knew it was not the way for an idol to behave. The trainees would see him as a bad example, but there were limits. He could not believe that the rest of Flo Glitz's team sat in awe and silence. "I will do anything, but not that!"

"Are you non-binary?" Taeyang asked.

He shook his head. "No! Of course, I'm not."

"You know me. I love you for you."

"I'm not non-binary!"

"How dare you!" Taeyang hovered his head over to the manager. "I don't see how lying about something like that is going to help. If anything it will destroy our career. Not only that, it's damaging the LGBTQ+ community."

"The industry needs more non-binary representation. Gong-gi fits the role perfectly."

"The dude's in agony. He might not ever see his wife and kids again. The whole point of LGBTQ+ representation is to allow people to be themselves. Look at how many straight musicians are gay icons?"

Flo Glitz crossed her legs with her arms folded. "You're already faking a relationship."

"IT'S NOT FAKE!" Taeyang screamed. If anybody was asleep, they weren't anymore.

"See what I mean?" Gong-gi tapped his Taeyang's shoulders, then squeezed them. "Flo Glitz does not care about our welfare. She sees the other idols as money-making machines. Just because we're her favourites at the moment, doesn't mean her behaviour is good. All she wants to do is create scandals and make money."

Flo dug her hands in her pockets. Her team hid under the desk and just as she got her gun out, she signed and placed it in her pocket. "Take the afternoon off." She crouched under the table to address her staff. "ALL OF YOU! Nobody's had a day off in 2 months. Go!"

What Flo said was true. Everyone who worked with Taegong including the members themselves had not had a day off in 2 months. The Boys Love album had been recorded in four different languages: Korean, Japanese, Tagalog and English.

If there was anything Taeyang did like at school, it was studying languages. It was fun to watch anime without the subtitles. His English wasn't the best, but he thought it was good considering he was just a student. It had meant that Taegong had released four albums within a span of a year.

There was no escaping the news: Gong-gi was getting divorced. The fans were celebrating because it meant that he and Taeyang were ready to take both their music and their relationship to the next level. Heading out of the studio, Taeyang and Gong-gi were hounded by screaming fangirls. They were waving their records in the air as they became engulfed in rainbow flags.
