Sweet as a melody, she beckons

Ribbon strung, lights dazzling

Lovely ship of dreams

Her graceful form, alluring

Her bow jutting proudly, majestically

Her stern, port, starboard, effulgent and radiant

Hull, fortified, strength to protect

Glorious her promises, of adventure

Of wanderlust and new beginnings

Eagerly came the rich, the famous

The hopeful, for new beginnings

Amid promises of stardust and pixie magic

RMS TITANIC set sail, the world to conquer

A tiny clever, wide eyed STAR, staring in awe

Clutches tightly her mother's hand

What fearsome adventures await

A wealthy happy family, in anticipation

Of bliss in a rose colored vacation

She daydreams of slaying pirates and dragons

Star smiles, anticipates great fun and frolic

Immaculate and distinguished are the gents

Clinging to chic, gloriously adorned damsels

A maddening mishmash of pandemonium

Mesmerizes and dazes the senses

Musicians bearing puzzling instruments

Smiling stewards and porters agog to aid

The wee one fascinated by the lavish decor

Reach out to purloin a decoration or two

"Now now Star, none of that", her mother chides

With guide in tow a sojourn to lush cabana

Comfort, rest and self-indulgence awaited

In first class grandeur, Star and family luxuriated

A grand Veranda Cafe, to sit and bask in sea's splendor

Whilst enjoying light refreshment

Restaurants of the highest class, gourmet delights

Titillate the senses and sates that most delicate of appetite

Gymnasium, saline swimming pools, and library

Offering an opulence and splendor never before seen

Steam room, massage room, hot room, cool room

Turkish bath, squash court and smoking room

Reading and writing room, encourages creativity

Common room rich and lavishly decorated, not unlike

The Palace of Versailles tis said

A 'cafe parisien', French sidewalk, complete

With ivy-colored trellises and wicker furnishings

Star enjoys prancing up and down

Titanic's grand staircase whilst laughing merrily

Happily playing with new friends in tow

Evenings band and piano played soothing music

Life was divine and marvelous

Happy were the days in first class paradise ~~

Disaster struck one ill-omened midnight hour

Replacing joy with unexpected sorrow

Titanic, the ship unsinkable

Struck an iceberg, ice unseen beneath the waters

Doomed Titanic to her watery sad demise

Hull plates buckled inwards, along starboard right

Five of sixteen compartments laid open to the sea

Designed to survive the flooding of four

She stood not a chance of staying afloat

Little Star, hurried from her bed

Heard the music of the band amidst the noise

Held firmly to her father's breast, she hid her face

Cradled in his arms, face nestled in his neck

Her mother cried in confusion, not for herself

But for her unborn child, it's fate unsure

Water, water everywhere. Screaming, wailing

Mourning and praying all interlaced in synchronistic din

While the band played on and on steadfastly

Uncertainty prevailed, while captain and crew

Endeavored for help radioed to the universe

Ship's crew, their fate unknown and in fear

Tries their best to usher the frightened mass

Of distraught, disquieted and terrified voyagers

To hopeful safety, and offer peace of mind

Decision finally made, no more time to lose

Lower the lifeboat. Women and children procure

Star clung tightly to her daddy's neck

"Go with your momma, little one, I shall see you soon".

She wept and wailed. Finally urgently untwining her little hands

Mother and child to lifeboat lowered

There was no placating little Star, she screamed for her daddy

The women wailed. The children, inconsolable and scared

Still the band played on. People prayed, some sang

Lifeboats away. The men perplexed, their plight unknown

The ship cracks, breaks in two, water pours in unstoppable

People, pets, luggage, debris, scattered everywhere

The ship is sinking. Terror, trepidation, panic and dread

Freezing, horrified and numb, the lifeboat's occupants

Watched Titanic sink into the freezing cold depths of the waters

Star's mom held her close. Hid her face, protecting her

Too young to carry the burden of a father submerged beneath

Ice and despair. Thankfully, sleep enveloped her in it's peaceful arms

Rescued. Transported to safety. Returned to home

Tearfully told of a father's loss amidst his strength

Yet her kind heart felt the loss of not only her father

For she cried for everyone on the ill-fated ship

A red rose to sea every year for her father goes

Mother and young brother always by her side

She lives to mature into a strong, beautiful

Proud and confident young woman.
