Some Prophesies Should Be Fulfilled

Let It Snow

By Charliy NashPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

“This is Ellington, I found it. Should have it recovered in an hour.”

“It is the Day of Opening,” she proclaimed, “Last night a streak of fire lit the sky as the ancient prophesy foretold. Let us find the sacred box.”

He was attaching the tow harness to the module when her group arrived. “Restrain him,” she commanded. Three large guards dragged him away from the module.

“That box is dangerous,” he yelled, “you can’t open it!”

She glared at him, “Silence you fool! This has all been long ago foretold. On the fourth day of the fourth moon after the vernal equinox, a fire shall light the sky. Then a box will appear, and the opening of it will change our world. It is the Day of Opening. Your name will be forgotten, stranger. My name shall be remembered forever!”

“Final report on Planet Ellington, status is Alpha Yankee. Planet cannot sustain life.”

“I’ve never seen anything like this before. Snow three meters deep on a planet in the butter zone.”

“Legend says a terraforming module landed here after a freighter broke up. Some guy named Ellington was trying to recover it when some local activated it.”

“This doesn’t look like terraforming.”

“The old 310 system had two stages. The 310A would basically burn the planet, then 310B would cool it down and fill the oceans. So apparently some idiot activated a 310B and now we have an uninhabitable snow planet.”

“All because some forgotten fool opened a box!”
