Banjhakri - The God of Natural Healing

Shamanistic deities of Sikkim and Nepal, Banjhakri and Banjhakrini : Humankind has always been in awe of and revered nature, and in the mystical settings of Nepal and Sikkim, a distinct belief system that unites spirituality and the natural world flourishes. The mysterious Banjhakri and Banjhakrini, who are worshiped as shamanistic deities by the Kirati and Rai ethnic groups, are at the center of this tradition. These spirits symbolize healing, protection, and spiritual guidance and personify the complex relationship between people and the natural world.

What Makes Banjhakri and Banjhakrini so Special : The words "Banjha" and "Kri" in the Sikkimese and Nepali languages mean "forest" and "jungle," respectively, and "Banjha" denotes a person with shamanic or spiritual skills. As a result, Banjhakri—a male spirit thatsymbolizes the masculine essence of nature—is frequently referred to as the forest or jungle deity. Banjhakrini, his female counterpart and consort, is standing next to him. Together, they create a heavenly union that reflects the spiritual harmony present in all of nature.

Defenders of the environment:Forests, mountains, and water supplies are protected by Banjhakri and Banjhakrini, who are known as the protectors of the natural world. Their reign encompasses the invisible worlds inhabited by spirits and deities as well as the visible world. They are thought to reside in the verdant woods and scenic mountains of Nepal and Sikkim, where they direct their spiritual powers to protect the environment and its inhabitants.

Intermediaries Between Worlds: Banjhakri and Banjhakrini serve as bridges between the physical world and the spirit world in the complex web of spiritual beliefs. They can be called upon for healing, direction, and protection through rituals and invocations. Communities ask for their favors to fend off evil spirits and diseases as well as to control the elements of nature for the benefit of all.

Rituals and Worship: Banjhakri and Banjhakrini are revered through elaborate rites that differ from community to community. During festivals and other special events, these deities are honored with ritualistic dances, invocations, and sacrifices. Their adoration is a manifestation of the Kirati and Rai ethnic groups' deeply ingrained cultural history.

Why Abduction of only Childrens : According to myth, the Ban-Jhankri used to abduct childrens between the ages of 5 and 10 and take them into the dense forest to teach them about spiritual healing. The wife of Banjhakri, also known as Banjhakrini, was not informed of the entire practise because it was thought that she had devilish tendencies and frequently used to prey on others to feed herself. Banjhakri used to hide all of the kids he used to abduct by just hiding them inside the bamboo basket.

Changing Practices and Beliefs: The tales of Banjhakri and Banjhakrini change throughout time, just like those of many other folklore and mythological figures. These conventional ideas also adapt as societies change and advance. While some parts may alter, the spiritual essence of their relationship with nature endures, serving as a reminder of the close relationship that people have with their surroundings.

The shamanistic deities of Nepal and Sikkim, Banjhakri and Banjhakrini, personify the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. They serve as protectors of the forests and spiritual healers, bridging the gap between the visible and invisible worlds and providing blessings and protection to those who seek them out. These celestial beings, which are a part of the Kirati and Rai communities' cultural heritage, serve as a constant reminder of our deep connection to nature, a connection that should be revered and protected.

Whether you believe it or not, the real reality is still a mystery owing to a lack of proof.
