There was a scary story about the town of Raven’s Hollow, which was tucked away in the middle of a thick forest. People in the town whispered about the “True Trees,” which were old oak trees that did well in the dark, with thick branches and crooked roots that twisted like skeleton fingers.

The True Trees were not like other trees; they had minds and were waiting for the right time to catch people who weren’t paying attention. The locals said that these trees fed on the souls of the people they caught and whispered a scary promise that those who got too close would sleep forever.

A group of city friends decided to look into the story on a cool fall evening. Sarah, Mark, Emily, and Tom, who were all in their early twenties, thought the locals’ warnings were just silly superstitions. They loved thrills and were always looking for the next adventure. The thought of discovering a spooky forest made them happy.

They went into the bush at dusk with flashlights and a plan. The air got cooler as they went deeper, and there was an eerie silence around them. The trees got taller, and their twisting shapes cast long, horrifying shadows.

“Are you sure this is the right way?” Sarah asked, and there was a hint of worry in her voice.

Mark, who was holding the map, gave a sure nod. “I promise just a little further. It will be in the middle of the forest, where the True Trees should be.

As night fell, they came to an area surrounded by a circle of huge oak trees. The bark of the trees seemed to move back and forth, almost like they were breathing, and the leaves rustled in a way that made words.

“Do you hear that?” The question made Emily’s eyes wide with fear.

“It’s just the wind,” Tom said, but his voice was shaking.

They chose to make a camp and laughed off their worries by telling stories and telling jokes. But as the night went on, the area felt heavy with a heavy feeling. One by one, they fell asleep quickly as they were too tired to stay awake.

Sarah woke up first, and her heart was racing. She had a strange urge to get close to one of the biggest trees. It sounded like its bark was beating, and she thought she heard a low, hypnotic hum. She put one foot in front of the other without realizing it.

“Sarah, what are you doing?” Mark’s voice woke her up.

She blinked and shook her head. “I… I don’t know.” I felt like I had to…”

Mark said in a serious voice, “Let’s stick together.” “This place is starting to freak me out.”

There was shaking on the ground as they crowded around the dying campfire. Roots suddenly came out and wrapped around Tom’s legs. He screamed and tried to get away, but the roots pulled him closer to the base of a True Tree.

He yelled, “Help me!” with fear in his eyes.

The other people grabbed his arms and pulled hard. But the tree had too much power. Tom was swallowed up to his waist in an instant, and his screams were muted by the protective bark of the tree. It was like nothing had happened when the trees went quiet again.

“We have to get out of here!” Emily yelled as tears ran down her face.

As they ran, twigs scratched at their clothes, and it felt like the forest was closing in on them. Now, every tree looked like it was living, with twisted shapes reaching out to catch the friends who were running away. Sarah tripped over a root, and before Mark could help her get up, she was pulled into the ground too. Her scared face went under the ground.

Mark and Emily were out of breath when they finally broke through the trees. They passed out on the ground in the forest. The open sky above them made them feel safe, while the scary forest made them feel trapped.

The voice of Mark was shaking as he said, “We… we have to warn the others.”

Emily said yes, but they saw it when they turned to leave. At the end of the forest, there was a single small oak tree. Its bark was smooth and new, but it had the same creepy vibe as the True Trees.

People who dared to go into the forest of Raven’s Hollow would always be warned about the True Trees. People in the village, who were smart about their fear, kept whispering about the trees that preyed on the unaware; their roots were always thirsty for the life force of the living.
