Sophie had always been fascinated by the story of Anne Frank. As a child, she had read her diary over and over, imagining what it must have been like to live in hiding for so long. But as she grew older, she became increasingly frustrated with the knowledge that Anne and her family had ultimately been captured and killed by the Nazis.

Sophie had always been a dreamer, and so it was no surprise that she found herself drawn to the idea of time travel. She spent months researching the science behind it, and finally, she believed she had found a way to alter history.

The day of her trip arrived, and Sophie stepped into the time machine. She felt a rush of excitement as the world around her blurred and twisted, and then she was standing on a street in Amsterdam, surrounded by the sounds and smells of the bustling city.

Sophie quickly made her way to the Frank family's hiding place. She had studied the layout of the building carefully, and she knew exactly where to go.

But as she crept up the stairs, something strange happened. She heard voices, muffled but distinct, coming from behind the bookcase that concealed the entrance to the hiding place.

Sophie's heart raced with panic. She had assumed that the family would be alone, that they would be easy to find and rescue. But now, she realized that she was not alone in her desire to alter history. Someone else was already there, someone who might not have the same intentions as her.

Sophie hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But then, she heard a shout, followed by the sound of gunfire. She realized that the building was under attack, and that she had to act quickly if she was going to save Anne and her family.

Sophie sprinted up the remaining stairs and flung open the door to the secret annex. She saw Anne and her sister huddled together in a corner, their eyes wide with fear.

"Come with me!" Sophie shouted, grabbing their hands.

The girls were too stunned to respond at first, but Sophie pulled them to their feet and began leading them toward the stairs. But as they descended, they heard more gunfire, and they realized that the attackers were closing in.

Sophie knew that they couldn't stay in the building, that they had to escape to safety. She led Anne and her sister through the streets of Amsterdam, dodging bullets and weaving through crowds.

Finally, they made it to a safe house, where they could hide until the danger had passed. Sophie knew that she couldn't stay with the girls, that she had to return to her own time before she was discovered.

But as she prepared to leave, she knew that she had accomplished what she had set out to do. She had saved Anne Frank, and in doing so, she had altered the course of history.

Sophie returned to her own time, feeling exhilarated and terrified by what she had experienced. She knew that she had changed the future, that things would be different now. But she also knew that she had to keep her actions a secret, that she could never reveal what she had done.

And so, Sophie lived the rest of her life with a secret that only she knew. She knew that she had altered history, that she had saved one of the greatest symbols of hope and resilience in the face of oppression. And even though she couldn't tell anyone what she had done, she knew that it had been worth it.
