Ravenswood has always been a place for those who find themselves lost and in need of something, whether it be guidance, or love, or war, irrational, rational, or a place to stay when the nightly air sends that chilling hand down along ones back or the way it may kiss your cheeks, a refusal of whatever belief it was that compelled you to leave and seek those like-minded, or just about any reason. However, not every who, what, where, when, why, or how, will bring one to Ravenswood, it calls out to those IT find as worthy or that IT needs or wants. Ravenswood, as I have come to discover, is very much ALIVE and IT too has similar wants and needs as we humans do, though, not all of us here are human, in one sense or another.

My name is Professor Craine, I am a researcher and all-around jack-of-all trades, from a mason worker to doctor (on occasion), to mayor (at one point, I am still not sure how I managed that one.), to repairman, you name it, I have probable done it, if not, will be tasked to it eventually. You, my esteemed reader, are reading this because, like me and many that have come before and after, have found yourself lost, in a manner of speaking, and the town of Ravenswood calls out to you.

I am sure that you all have heard the tales about Ravenswood and how the streets here are made of gold, and how demons stalk you in the night, or how you battle Hordes of Ogres and Undead, or battle with your wits against a chessboard that has never been beaten or battle a wizard or three just for the fun of it. Yes, my esteemed chosen one, it is true, all of it. Every last word. Because here, you make the world as you wish it. Here in Ravenswood, the impossible is truly possible.

Now, I am sure that you are asking yourself about why or what or any of the normal questions that every person or thing gets when they receive this invitation, and yes, I can also assure you that all will be opened to you in due time. Here too, just like many places, there is a pecking order, and you too will have to work your way to the top of the hill. It is not easy, nor will it ever be too incredibly difficult that one cannot attain whatever it is that you desire, there are many here that will help you along the way, and who knows, not only could you become more then what you are now, but you could become even better then the thought running through your head, yes, I can hear it, you’re thinking that you could be a god and rule this world and the next, and so on for as long as you desire and set the world in a balance that you and those like you, have a fairer and more gracious a chance at life for the better, YES! It is possible, it is the most difficult and dangerous of all the tasks and challenges, but it is possible.

I too, was once like you and upon receiving this letter, I did not believe a single word it read. I read the letter repeatedly as I am sure this is not your first or second time browsing its wording or looking for the indication or symbol of forgery, nay, it is not, that I can attest to completely as will you. Whether you like it or not, this letter will be your golden ticket, as it were, to a place where all things are possible, all dreams become reality, whatever your dreams and desires are, they too will become destined alongside you. To the town of Ravenswood, it matters not what you are, friend or foe, villain, or hero, male or female, or anything in between, or even if you are in between, none of that matters here. The town chose you, YOU, and when it is ready for you, it too will summon you here and you will not even know it beckoned.

I cannot warn you enough to give thought to what you choose as your path, it can change on you rapidly and the town will always find a way to ensure that, as well as defending itself from everything and anything that may come to harm it or claim it as its own. As I had spoken or written rather, this town, Ravenswood, is very much alive and IT likes being ALIVE.

Now, I, Professor Craine, welcome you and I will shake your warmly by the hand.
