CHAPTER I - To Infinity

(Carmen): There weren't always dragons in the Valley. An unauthorized TimeJump attempt opened a portal to PreHistoric Asia.

(Jackson) What’s a TimeJump?

(C) It’s the method of traveling through Space-Time without actually messing up other timelines.

(J) How is that possible?!

(C) There once was a Woman named Scarlett Leaf. She created a formula that works out how to pinpoint and clone a timeline of your choosing. It allows you to have a separated version of any time period or moment. Years later, I found the formula and built a machine to test it. It worked. I was hired by ‘The Company’ after I applied for a patent.

(J) Is that it over there? *points to large oval shaped machine*

(C) No, that creates black holes.

(J) Really?

(C) I’m kidding. Follow me.

Carmen and Jackson walk towards the machine. Carmen begins to power on the machine, as Jackson watches in amazement. After a sequence of harmonizing light sparks in the center of the machine, a screen comes on near Carmen.

(C) Stand back. *clicks mouse*

Jackson sprints for cover.

Suddenly a faint color appears in the center. Gold. Followed by Purple.

A sound can be heard. It increases in volume, as if it is getting closer. A crowd of some sort. The portal opens.

Jackson peeks his head up from behind the couch to see a stadium entrance. He walks up to the portal to investigate further.

(C) Don’t go too far. I don’t feel like explaining to Dad why his son is courtside at Kobe’s Farewell Game.

(J) Who?

(C) Wow. Just walk.

Carmen calibrates her watch to facilitate the trip, as she follows Jackson into the stadium.

As they enter, they see bright lights, colorful people, and basketball.

(J) What year is this?

(C) 2016. Dad talks about it all the time. He said this game is amazing.

(J) Can we stop by the Hot Dog Stand? I’m hungry.

(C) Sure. bring me back some nachos.

Carmen leans on a nearby railing as Jackson walks through the crowd of golden jerseys.

As Jackson orders, he notices something unusual.

On his left, there is a wall. The wall looks normal for the most part, but in the top right corner, about 7 pixels glitch.

The moment comes just as fast as it goes.

Confused, Jackson grabs Carmen’s nachos, along with a chili dog for himself.

He walks back to find Carmen, who is feverishly scanning the area with her watch.

As Carmen and Jackson walk to their seats, they can’t help become excited for what was in store.

Below, they see Kobe Bryant outscore the Utah Jazz by himself in the fourth quarter in his final game.

(J) 60 points! Okay, this Kobe guy isn’t half bad.

(C) Yeah, he’s pretty good.

As they walk back to the exit, Jackson drops his wallet. Without realizing, they keep walking. They exit the stadium through the portal.

Back inside the stadium, a hooded woman stares at Jackson’s wallet.

She sighs, and picks the wallet up.

Inside the compound, Carmen explains how it is possible for timelines to merge if procedures are done incorrectly.

(J) So let me get this straight. If I were to take a picture with a prominent figure during a specific time period, chaos would ensue across the Multiverse?

(C) I mean, it depends on the situation. You could go to 2036 and talk to someone, and it might not affect anything major. You could also talk to someone, waste 5 minutes of their time, and save them from a catastrophic accident. That can drastically alter things.

(J) I talked to the Hot Dog Stand Guy. Does that count?

(C) Did you notice anything strange?

(J) Well, I did see something acting weird on the wall. It looked like a software glitch on a computer.

Carmen looks up in shock. The look in her eyes tells Jackson that this is serious.

(J) What is it?

(C) Pixels?

(J) Yeah. I noticed that it was strange, but thought nothing of it.

(C) Pixels being shown is a sign that there are multiple versions of a person in an area. The Quantum Continuity is not built to sustain that.

(J) The Quantum what?

(C) Ugh, nevermind.

As Carmen works out some calculations, Jackson puts his hand into his pocket. He finally realizes that he does not have his wallet.

(J) Uh, Sis?”

(C) What? Did you drop something?

She says jokingly, without looking up.

(J) Actually, Yeah.

Carmen groans.

(C) We have to go back?

(J) Yes! It will be quick. I dropped my wallet and I can’t find it.

(C) Fine. You’re lucky that I care.

Carmen begins to load the machine back up.

As they wait, Jackson explains his path and where his wallet might be.

The machine loads, and the portal opens back up.

As Carmen and Jackson stare into the past, their futures become more connected, whether they know it or not.
