Pete was sitting at the kitchen table reading the newspaper. Across the table sat his wife Helen, who was talking nonsense like she does daily. Usually, Pete can ignore Helen's constant jibber jabber, but today her annoying voice was starting to get to him.
As Helen continued talking, Pete got up, went to the kitchen drawer, and pulled out his .38 handgun. He pointed the gun to the back of Helen's head and pulled the trigger.
Pete put the gun down, sat back at the table, picked up his newspaper, and said, "I can finally read the newspaper in silence."
