On The Castle Stairs
The girl was visiting The Castle which belonged to her Grandfather, but he was gone. Her father had some buisiness so told her to stay in the library until he returned.
He knew how much she loved books, so this place would keep her more than occupied.
She heard noises. Alone in the Castle Library she had been reading "Beauty and the Beast" and wondered if she would ever meet such a caring creature. Then she realised that the noises sounded like a voice saying :
"I'm Lost"
The Voice
She put down her book, and though she had been told to stay, she walked out into the corridor and heard the voice once more from up the cold stone stars. She began to walk up and thought the stairs were juts a spiral, but they somehow semed to twist in odd directions.
There were cobwebs and by her feet she noticed two mice. She wasn;t scared of mice, though rats were a different matter.
Then the Voice again.
"I'm Lost"
The Voice
She was till going up and though the voice seemed insistent, there were no doors. The castle seemed to go on forever, just stone, cobwebs and cold, andthe Voice.
She then realised that she did not know where she was, or how to get back. She could not find any downward stairs, and she began to cry, she was lost now and it was her voice saying
"I'm Lost"
The Voice
Her father came back to th elibrary, and it was empty. He shouted her name and then heard a voice:
"I'm Lost"
The Voice
He knew not to follow, but had not instructed his daughter, and he knew that she had been stolen by the castle, like so many others, and he would see her no more.
Not one stolen child had returned from the castle.
Some said they were taken by fairies or goblins, but no one who ascended those castle stairs ever returned, child or adult.
He could do nothing but remember his daughter, who he had not protected.
