Oasis of Survival

The midday sun beat down on the dusty plains, baking the cracked earth. A lone female Triceratops, her bony frill a canvas of faded red and brown, trudged along the parched landscape. Her once proud head hung low, her ancient eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of greenery. Weeks of drought had ravaged their territory, forcing them to abandon their usual grazing grounds in search of sustenance.

Her name, if dinosaurs even had such things, was forgotten. Generations separated her from the one who bore the name "Sharptooth," a testament to the ferocious predator that had claimed her mother's life. Now, Sharptooth herself embodied the struggle for survival. Her once plump belly was sunken, her powerful legs trembling ever so slightly with fatigue.

Ahead, a faint shimmer danced on the horizon. A mirage, perhaps? Yet, something in Sharptooth's primal instincts urged her forward. Sharptooth remembered a hidden patch of drought-resistant cacti, miles away, a secret known only to her kind. With a grateful grunt, she turned and lumbered away.
