LUKY

Luky was attaching pictures of his moleskin to an e-mail he was about to send ex-girlfriend Molly. The flight was boarding and hopefully in the near future, both would meet in a secret destination. His master plan was coming out perfectly, nevertheless he was scared his colleague Billy Peligro would show up at the terminal’s gate to kill him. The day before Luky had thrown away his cell phone and couldn’t be reached.

Both Billy Peligro and Luky were hired by a Venezuelan businessman laundering money in Miami. The job was to take two million dollars in cash from the Port of the City to a secret warehouse on the other side of town. It seemed simple but in fact, it was a very risky mission.

Billy Peligro was a cuban drug dealer that served 15 years in Miami Dade’s prison. He was very fond of Luky and considered him a very responsible person. Billy had recently told Luky about the fix since he had been desperately looking for a job, even if it meant doing something illegal. The economic hardship and depression had Luky on the verge of a mental breakdown.

Lucky accepted the offer: it paid 10% of the total cash amount. Billy Peligro would claim a commission for being the middle man but considered himself an “outsider” with no responsibility in the delivery.

The crook businessman made millions of dollars out of economic regulations issued by Venezuela’s government. Many men like him were involved in drug trafficking aside from their fishy investments. Since Venezuela was Luky’s native country, scenarios of this nature awakened feelings of anger and hate to this man and his fellow countrymen living in the United States. Venezuelans in general suffered the consequences of emigrating to a foreign country in search of a new life, which in most cases was very difficult to achieve.

A series of unfortunate events made Luky take the risk of stealing the two million dollars without regret: the job was for one of many thugs that bankrupted his country and also a perfect opportunity to have a fresh start with ex-girlfriend Molly.

The guy was furious. It was obvious both Billy Peligro and Luky had run away with the money leaving no trace. Although Billy Peligro was confident the boss would only hold Luky accountable for taking the money away, immediately both their heads were given a price.

Everything was working perfectly and the next step was sending Molly an e-mail with precise instructions on how and where the bag should be hidden to make it impossible to trace. He was hoping everything turned out perfectly this time; from the day of the breakup with Molly his previous messages had been ignored.

MOLLY

Molly had opened the door for Luky to heal several emotional wounds that overshadowed his talent and unique personality. On the other hand, Luky had gained wisdom from his exotic life experiences and taught Molly a lot of new things that made her grow and shine as a person. They were a beautiful power couple and were very much in love.

Luky advised, supported and encouraged Molly to find a fulfilling job and a meaning for life. He constantly reinforced her abilities to make her gain confidence in them. Although he was a difficult person to deal with, he had learned to always focus on the positive things of their connection, avoiding judgments and genuinely making her laugh most of the time.

Molly had started working in an affiliate marketing company as content producer. The job was to place advertising videos on social media platforms and sell them through the app’s algorithms. Multimillion dollars companies pay good money for clicks and engagements of those videos and nowadays, this is one of the most profitable businesses in the United States, This sparked in her an arrogant attitude towards Luky.

Molly constantly highlighted the bad things in the relationship, which in fact were very few compared to the great moments they always had together, almost as if she was unconsciously feeling envious of Luky’s achievements and well-intended advices. Envy is a sad but true reality between broken and divided social classes in Venezuela. This case was no exception, since they came from different backgrounds growing up.

Luky and Molly were soon to be married, but in a recent fight her ego was badly hurt, causing her pride and judgment to become hazy; she got back at him in a very hateful and hurtful way, and this diminished their connection.

Although she never admitted, it seemed obvious she was tangled with a long time colleague of Luky's work environment. His accurate intuition knew it from day one, and later on, after denying it several times, she had no choice but to confess it was indeed that person.

She tried to justify her actions saying it was difficult for Luky to meet her standards, but right after the breakup and without a proper explanation she deliberately ran away to Luky’s colleague. Allegedly she “fell in love” with the man and started a new relationship, but there were many things hidden behind the scenes, causing Luky more pain and deception than she could ever imagine. In the long run, what started as revenge to make him jealous, would end up backfiring at her twice strong.

On the outside, Molly pretended to be happy as if Luky never existed, but inside she was hiding a lot of pain and sadness. She had made everybody around her believe that money was the key to happiness and stable relationships, that she had to build both around logic and not emotions, even if you couldn't control them. The fact being, she was hiding her true feelings while trying to replace Luky.

After the breakup Luky began questioning his purpose in life. Blinded by love and illusions he thought had nothing to lose by taking the dirty money. The night before the delivery was supposed to be made, he kidnapped the bag and never contacted the Businessman nor Billy Peligro again.

THE FIX

The evil businessman wanted Luky’s and Peligro's heads but they both managed to escape town forever. Luky was flying to a hidden destination in South America and Billy Peligro drove north, succesfully escaping to Canada.

Waiting at the gate, Luky was very anxious. The Paranoia of Billy Peligro showing up at the airport almost collapsed him. Right after he sent the e-mail, passengers were called to board. He ran with his backpack open and inadvertently dropped the moleskin on the floor.

All his chores, experiences, personal information, journal, ideas, bills, savings, all his life, were written in the black notebook, and if opened, it was easy to come across the theft plan.

When the plane took off, Luky reached for his backpack in search of the moleskin but realised it was lost; he instantly suffered a panic attack. Flight officers had no choice but to tie him up, scared of a tragedy could happen.

When the plane landed airline nurses rushed him to an E.R. In the hospital, Doctors decided to sedate and transfer him to a psychiatrist clinic. He had become a danger to himself and hospital staff had nobody to call. The secret location was written in his moleskin and the e-mail sent earlier to Molly.

MRS. AURORA

Meanwhile at the terminal's gate, the cleaning Manager of Miami's International Airport “Mrs. Aurora“ finished sweeping the floor after Luky’s flight departed. Under a chair she found a black notebook with the name “moleskin” on its cover. She grabbed it and started searching for the owner's name to return it or at least drop it in the “Lost and Found” department. She quickly turned pages and came across Luky’s plan to steal the money. Every detail was written there: instructions to hide it, a map with the money’s location, how to divide amounts into different bags, timelines, when, where and how to deposit the cash in banks amongst other things.

Mrs. Aurora had been working for 20 years in the airport and was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Health insurance didn’t cover the expensive treatment needed, causing her a lot of stress: she was a single mother taking care of three sons, and in the near future she eventually would have to stop working.

Mrs Aurora had nothing to lose and didn’t hesitate to hide the notebook and read it during her break, only to realise the money was pretty easy to find. Either way, she wouldn’t stop repeating - “gracias Diosito, gracias” - convinced that God had sent her a gift, being as she was a divorced good mother and devoted catholic. She took the moleskin home and confessed to her sons about her illness as if it was nothing. Their sons didn’t understand how she could be happy after the shocking news she gave them, so she immediately took out the black notebook calling it “Divine Justice”.

Not only she needed their help but they all had to run away. After a big discussion, and worried of their mother’s health, the three youngsters quickly memorized the instructions. The next day all four members of the family hit the road towards the bag’s location. Nothing would stop them from saving their mother's life.

Mrs. Aurora had stayed all night reading some passages of Luky’s journal. While this happened, surprisingly this time Molly had decided to open Luky's email. She had been thinking about him for days, realising how bad things had turned out in their relationship. When she started reading the message, her eyes flooded in tears while running to her car. While driving, memories began to disturb her mind and there was a spiritual awakening to their connection, and how she had been blinded by ego, narcissism and mind over heart decisions.

In the secret location a surprise was waiting: the teenagers were already splitting the money into different bags and boxes while Mrs. Aurora was securing the area with a gun in her pocket. Molly started screaming the money belonged to Luky and her, but Mrs. Aurora quickly pointed the firearm at her and very kindly asked for her cooperation, suggesting she seats on the floor.

Mrs. Aurora felt compassion and apologized to Molly. She had read most of the letters in the journal and knew all about their love story and the painful betrayal. She tried to explain the reason for taking the money - “ It is my gift from God niña, you don’t deserve this” - she said, warning they were all willing to die for it.

The woman took two of packs of bills ( both 10,000$ each ) and throwed them at Molly, who couldn’t stop crying. Mrs. Aurora approached her and kindly gave Molly the notebook, suggesting to read it. She had read the contents and was speechless with the beautiful and powerful description of the love Luky felt for Molly. Those words touched her heart and she stood in solidarity with his pain.

- “You don’t need money my girl… You have to grow up mi niña, parece que eres muy talentosa” - “You are gonna be miserable if you keep choosing mind over heart if you keep repressing those real emotions” -“ you are gonna’ regret it for the rest of your life” - said the kind woman.

Molly wondered how an unknown senior lady stealing Luky’s money could say such accurate things about her secrets and hidden feelings. Mrs. Aurora basically confirmed both the struggle and unconditional love for her were real.

The old lady then walked to the car with a very serious face - “it is so hard to find a genuine and special love this days, specially for an honest woman” - Suddenly she stared at the horizon remembering that eternal dream she daily asked the universe - “why? why not me?” - All she wanted was a true unconditional partner that helped overcome her painful divorce.

Molly felt short of air; the epiphany in reading Luky’s notes completely awakened her spirit and heart. She finally understood that even if you are the greatest actor no one can hide or win against true love, that the meaning of life is to pursuit happiness and it comes from within us, not persons or things; feelings have to be heard, considered and embraced specially to really be happy.

The lady finished her advice saying - “ Ahi tiene la locación, tiene tiempo” Sadly although she was determined to find him, Luky´s mental health condition was seriously damaged.

Mrs. Aurora got quickly in the car, running away with her sons and the cash. She was able to pay for her treatments and none of them were to be found again
